Got started today on the old girl just got three bolts to put in on the top flange of the front suspension flange
Then change out the the brake calliper
And new pipes tomorrow
Tomorrow all on off side
The ball joints are in tip top condition thay should thay were only changed two years ago
Fitting
I should have got started first thing this morning but the nabors across the road had a problem with his land rover discovery I had to make a tool to pull the bottom ball joint but the jobs done now very satisfying result.

Oh, just like the new ones then
The new ones with there all singing and dancing computers and electronics that you can’t fix without a main dealers extorting you for a software upgrade to fit a ingector I see a new one broken Dow I just drive on as thay see me turning up in my old car thay think I have stopped to rob them.
Old fiat and fords I usually pull up and help especially if it oldies or family’s on holiday
Usually can get them going even if it just to get them home

Just to ade to the welding bit this is the first bit of welding ever done on this van there’s three bits on one side and one bit on the other
Thay were only very spal but I got just a bit carried away with the grinder
Probably would have got away with smaller patches
When I was working on a rig along side in Invergorden a few years ago ther was five gallons of marine Zink oxide primer in the skip because it was out of data still got a load left it stops the rust dead in it tracks
Not bad for a van from 1990

When younger I used to do practically everything on vehicles myself. Now restricted to swapping over the headlights on the motorhome to the left hand dip ones for the MOT then changing back to the continental ones afterwards. I don't even recognise half the things under the bonnet of my hybrid car.

It's a hymer on a transit base. The headlight units are only attached by two torx screws and a multiplug so easily swapped. Right hand dipping lights bought from ebay for £50.
If it a euro van there flat dipping no need to Chang them I am lead to believe

Hot very warm day today got a few bits and pieces to get tomorrow cant for the life of me find the new tin of copper slip I bought.
At the beginning of the year can’t put it back together without it.
Got most of the stuff I need just three bolts I need to Change
Thay loo like thay have cracked I had one brake of with very little torque on it so cleaned up and done a bit of a Mpi on the other three and thay all looking suspect
Buy new last thing I want is the bolts that hold the track rod ends to fail.

Thinking I had it cracked when the brake pads turned up for the van delivered bright and early 0900 this morning.
Unwrapped the parcel only to find thay have sent the wrong ones.
Thay were piked up at 1400 hrs today but I won’t get the correct ones till Monday.
As thay are in the process of being returned
Mix up in labiles on the package apparently
Cockup stops play

Even if not, he has no need to change the lights.
Every year, for it's MOT, my Germany built LHD VW T25 Westfalia just gets a piece of Gaffer tape stuck on the lights in the correct position.

It has passed like this for the past 12yrs. it is in the testers manual as a 'temporary' 👍

We’re going to have a steady drive down through France not paying that stupid money for a ferry
We will probably take three to fore weeks to get that far but we never set a schedule.
We just point in the general direction and if we make it all good and well.
But in well over 40 years of camper vans I don’t think we have ever actually made where we originally set off to go.
Had some grate holidays fund some grate places.
And many we can’t find again we will se where wee end up .
You never know where our paths will cross

I do not envy you one bit, thats’s a mighty list to do, specially the gearbox out, been there. Start shopping for parts and take it in bite sizes. You sound like you know your task ahead and wish you no bloody knuckles.
Hope you have a impact wrench, it saves allot of effort.
