Is this as good as it seems? EU roaming included.

I am on ID network, roaming included, it has unlimited Mins, Texts and 200Gb Data, I could have got unlimited Data, but I know someone who got their sim cut off due to unfair usage, so I went for the 200 Gb guaranteed, that way they have to honour the deal, all this for £12 a month, and the nice thing is when Data is not used it is added on to next month.
p.s. I have been using this non stop with mobil phone and laptop plus home security, in Europe since March with no problems, copy of my dashboard:

How are you finding the coverage in both the UK and abroad using the 3 network

Is streaming a problem at all

Also I can’t see a plan of 200gb for £12 a month, do you have a link?

Al, as an example, I am able to watch BBC and ITV live through the Apps on the Firestick, on a low to half strength 4G signal, from a remote area in Beds. No buffering ing at all.

I got my deal cheaper through Uswitch. Read lorger Gerry's experiences a couple of pages back, which gave me the confidence to try Three again as a provider.

Cheers,

Jock. :)

hi Jock

hope your keeping well

i’ve found uswitch to be a bit cheaper than going direct to ID Mobile

i’ve found 2 deals that are worth a punt and both monthly contracts

250gb for £14 and unlimited for £16 but after reading Peregrinator post regarding he knows someone who was cut off so uncertain what to do

I like the ID mobile 1 month contract for 250gb a month @ £14... currently with Tesco and £19.66 for 100gb. What are the roaming conditions on this ?
I've been in Portugal for 3 months and no problems with Tesco service and no current restrictions.

I got the first one for my wife which was via online ID site with transfer of her number, but had no end of problems, so cancelled it and went to curries where I bought the sims in the end, it's face to face, makes it it a lot easer when/if there is a problem, I gave up when trying to sort it on line. apart from that not had one problem since, they have all worked as should, the Netgear takes care of all the wifi for the laptop, Ipad and security etc. Streaming has not problem for all devices.
got them all from Curries.

As I advised earlier at 12.46hrs Al. ;)

I would go for the 250Gb deal, as they will warn you if getting close to the limit, and, you can always upgrade or top up via the App or website.

Please see lorger Gerry's and Peregrinator's experiences abroad.

My understanding of the detail is "Roam like at home" across 50 European locations.

Jock. :)

Yes I know Jock that’s why I checked USwitch so thanks for the heads up

maybe I worded it wrong, sorry

I’m just waiting for a full timer friend to arrive for the weekend who I believe is also using 3 network, who from memory told me it’s garbage coverage for him so i’m waiting to ask him

Been using RWG data sim in mifi from UK down through France across Spain and into Portugal with no probs. Signal varying but averaging about 12-21mbps, often higher. Streaming iplayer etc with no probs.
I also have the RWG voice sim in phone and it too is giving a signal wherever we go but the data speed is far higher at times (up to 60mbps at times).
I ordered the voice sim first then data sim but thought I might as well try both for a month to see how they managed side by side. Not sure I can really tell any difference to be honest.
A few times I have changed provider on HUAWEI mi fi from Meo to vodafone and the signal has been a bit faster but for all we need it for it doesn’t really make much difference.
I’m not really techy but when I do speed tests using same network provider it seems to lose a lot between my phone and going through router. We have four devices attached to our mifi. Phone will often give 40mbps whereas running through mifi lowers it to 20mbps. Both with RWG sims. Data only in mifi and voice in phone.

Unfortunately, every time I try to register an online account, or use the App, it tells me there is something wrong, so no access to my account as yet, but the sim card is working for downloading and streaming.
I finally sussed it out. ID had only spelt my surname wrong when authorising the account and issuing the number. It took me over an hour on their chat facility to put it right, as the profile changes in settings, doesn't extend to altering the account holder surname, or even just spelling changes.

I also downloaded https://www.m2catalyst.com/network-cell-info-lite from the Google App store, which gives access to your provider's signal strength.

Cheers,

Jock. :)

I told my brother about the RWG Global SIM card at £28 as he was going to France and Spain for a couple of weeks. He activated it when it arrived at his house and it worked fine in the UK. However, when he tried to use it in France, it didn't work at all. He's been in touch with RWG by email a couple of times (and they responded quite quickly) but nothing they suggested (including APN settings) has worked. He tried the SIM card in both an iPhone and an Android phone. He's now in Spain and it's still not working. RWG are going to send a replacement SIM to his wife (in the UK) and she is going to take that when she flies out to meet him.

This is a bit disappointing as I intend to order one myself before our trip. Maybe he just got a duff SIM card but then, why would it work okay in the UK?

Hi Jock - the M2Catalyst speed checker is £9.99 a month after 3 days trail, lot of money for a speed checker, just checking you were aware of this

Thanks Bob, but there is a free version with adverts, which I use, but you did get the old heart fluttering a bit though.

We’ve just returned from France and I’m pleased with how our RWG phone sim has worked in our Huawei B535 router, always had internet and only had a couple of places in Brittany that BBC did want to stream very well.
Over pleased and will be using it again for the next trip if they still do the 200gb for £20

Interested that you were using a 535. I have just purchased one on Ebay as I want to replace my 5577.
Do you have an external antenna?

Not if it’s a Business contract

It says "Business" at the top of the page and I followed a link to it from your link.

Have a read in the section "More information about roaming in Europe"

Well I have a business data only sim and have not been capped as both told at the shop and on a call…it’s my personal experience no roaming fee and was not capped.

The 32Gb cap is stated in black and white, so maybe your just lucky, by no guarantee that others would be is there.

O2 are also a little bit light on the truth as they state "Now you can use your UK allowance while travelling in Europe. Use your minutes, text and data at no extra cost" and then states in the section I highlighted that you will be charged if you exceed your 32Gb limit. 🤷‍♂️

Just an update on one of my Tracker sims that I use, apart from the ID's, this one is giffgaff, this I received today " your Roam Like At Home allowance is set to end on 3/6/23. Our Roaming Like at Home feature in our goodybags lets you use your goodybag in the EU as you would in the UK for up to 63 days, after which you'd need to return to the UK to reset it. If you're still in the EU when this allowance expires, the service switches to a pay as you go basis and you'll need to add credit in order to use your services." It's ok if you don't tour for more than 63 days, but the good thing is they don't cut you off like some if doing the full 90 days.

This is lifted from the link you posted, it seems the data cap is on unlimited Sims.

If you’re on an unlimited data tariff, you’ll be able to use up to 35GB data in our Europe Zone during your monthly bill cycle. If you use more than 35GB, you can continue to use data, but you’ll be charged 0.2p per MB

New discovery about the RWG. I found it annoying that you cannot tell how much data you have without testing a message to them. Now I discover you cannot text from outside the UK. (Not sure if you can make calls or not?)

Apparently, the only way to review your data remaining is to send an email to customer services.

So good prices, customer services and data coverage in UK and EU so far but I wish they were a little more up to date technology wise.

I use the data monitoring on my Samsung phone. Not sure all phones have that facility but an easy way to monitor and you can set an alert at a preset level of data used.

Apple phones do and the portal to my BT account shows data usage as well, if I get low I have a text from BT.
