Is this as good as it seems? EU roaming included.

Thought I’d update you on how my ID sim is doing, I pay £18 pm on sim only deal for unlimited data, calls and text with roaming included. My months runs from 10th to 9th each month so up tomorrow.
First one shows my bill will be £18:14 the 14p is due to a call I made before coming on holiday to a non U.K. number.

Below shows my usage, that’s for the both of us as OH joins my hotspot. We watch about an hour or two tv at night and I’ve watched two live football matches and currently watching Real Madrid v Man City.

There are some good deals with ID but the great thing about RWG is that data allowance are the same in the EU as the UK. This is not very common nowadays with roaming restrictions. Do you know what ID policy is on roaming allowences?

Based on lorger Gerry's experience, I did some research, and have gone with ID Mobile on a monthly rolling contract. One of the reasons was the use of your full UK allowance in 50 x countries within the EU. Also, your unused data rolls over to the next month.

Mainly for MiFi use in the UK, I went for 70Gb at £10.00pcm, (via Uswitch), as we have a satellite system on the MH, so unlikely to use that much data, however, the option and flexibility is there to upgrade or downgrade the plan, any time we need to.

My only concern is that they use the Three network, which I hope has vastly improved since I was last a Three user. :(

HTH,

Jock. :)

There's another thread running about ID and it isn't as clear cut what the allowance is ... Make sure you read it all.

I have a 5577 and found it pretty useless in it but fine in the phone, resorted to putting in the second slot on my phone on the last trip but found that a right PIA.

Yesterday I took delivery of a Teltonika RUT950, hoping to cure it but just the same.
In the router 7 to 11mb/s, the same sim in my phone 50 to 95mb/s.

My phone sim is Plusnet on the EE network that's exactly the same, EE say there is no throttling when using in a mifi but that doesn't appear to be the case.
I’ve my RWG phone sim in a Huawei B535 and that’s connected to Orange F and a smarty sim in my phone also on Orange F both good but phone is twice speed of router. Phone around 80mbps and router 35mbps

Thanks, read that but none the wiser. The open data policy applies only to some policies, but I can't see how to find out. Anyway I'll get to find out later on when I my Lebara sim runs out.
RWG have let me down, with no coverage in the western Balkns now.
Still ID will work in N Macedonia!

We are on our last day of our 16day holiday and have used 151gb, mainly live football matches and prime. I received a text from ID when we arrived in the EU telling me I could use my allowance as at home, I’ve also checked their fair usage policy which states they will text if getting near limit, so far no issues and my bill was due on the 9/5 with no extra.

Again see below the text and their fair usage policy. I’ve also included my bill from 10/4-9/5, I pay £18pm for unlimited, I did ask all these questions in chat with ID and had the chat transcript sent to me just Incase.

I purchased a Smarty 60gb data only sim for when we went away in the UK a month or so back, crap when I installed it in my M2 Netgear at home and was no better when we went to Somerset!!
Ended up with the site’s WiFi and our phones that are with Vodafone, wasn’t that impressed with 3 so will try the RWG as I had EE data only sim for a few years and that worked fine all over Europe only cancelled because it got to over £30 a month.

Can you please tell if you use the unlimited data on Roaming?

Can you please tell if you use the unlimited data on Roaming?
I would imagine 95% of my 151gb used will have been while roaming, I use very little data at home due to WiFi at home and work.

Crossed into Spain yesterday and are at Autocaravanas Plays de Luz nr Isla Cristina. Currently getting the slowest speeds we've had at 3.8 mps. Not to worry as the camp's free WiFi is giving 48 mps.

Has anyone used this?

Cheaper than Lebara and you get the full 200GB abroad?

Can I put it in my unlocked MiFi and crack on?
To those with more techie experience than me does this sound ok

I have a RWG EE data SIM

I Managed to set my to APN ion.otm rather then “Everywhere” don’t know if this makes any difference?

Did a speed test

On my Huewai router I got the following

On the 2.4/5 GHz Band I was getting 7.4 Mbps download / 7.9 Upload

and on 5 GHz Band I got 17.7 Mbps download and 18.4 Mbps Upload - internet appears ok, I streamed some football

The 2.4gb & 5gb is only on the WiFi side it won't actually affect download speed & if your are any distance from the router or there are walls in between 2.4gb will normally be faster.

Your speed variation is more likely to be due to speed variations from the cell mast. The speed constantly goes up and down depending on the number of connections.

As Lenny say's your speed tests will vary, this is mine now in Cudillero, Spain (Movistar) on same data sim
DOWNLOAD Mbps
78.36
UPLOAD Mbps
1.89

Now on the aire at Foix. This is the good bit

However, it's 'hissing down' as it has been the last few days 😒

I'm getting invalid profile when I try to set up the new APN settings for my data only global SIM. Could someone kindly help with the username as I understand the password is to be left blank? TIA

This might be me being thick but will the username ion.otm (no password) only work outside the UK? my EE profile works fine in the UK at the moment

Reply from RWG about the speed in a mif.

"Hi Lenny

We don't have the capability to restrict the speed on the network so certainly not something we are doing.

It may be the MiFi unit itself. Can you ensure that you have given the maximum capacity to the MiFi e.g. selecting 4G etc.

Regards

Is that in a mif & which sim?
Huawei 5577 with a roof mounted 'puck' and using a RWG Global version of the 2 yr contract that normally gives 2Gb per month but have added another 100Gb to this sim before we left. The 2Gb per month is used to keep the Rasperry Pi in contact 😉

I am on ID network, roaming included, it has unlimited Mins, Texts and 200Gb Data, I could have got unlimited Data, but I know someone who got their sim cut off due to unfair usage, so I went for the 200 Gb guaranteed, that way they have to honour the deal, all this for £12 a month, and the nice thing is when Data is not used it is added on to next month.
p.s. I have been using this non stop with mobil phone and laptop plus home security, in Europe since March with no problems, copy of my dashboard:

I too have just gone live with ID Mobile this weekend but on a lower monthly rolling tarrif, to see how things go.

Unfortunately, every time I try to register an online account, or use the App, it tells me there is something wrong, so no access to my account as yet, but the sim card is working for downloading and streaming. I'll use the ZTE Dashboard for now to monitor my data allowance.

Cheers,

Jock. :)

P.S. In the middle of nowhere in a farmer's field near Marston Moretaine, Beds, with 2 out of 5 x bars of 4G signal.

We have to report that the basic (not data only) RWG SIM is working fine so far in our M2 router on the Ile de Re. No changes needed to APN, worked great streaming the Money Heist on Netflix and feeding the tablets for Readly.

JockandRita watching this with interest as my mobile contract is now ready for renewal and after the Ezikiel fiasco, I am still looking for an alternative and it looks like it's between RWG and ID Mobile.
