Rather large 04 plate Burstner parked near to our car in the Waitrose town centre car park in Christchurch on Saturday. We returned a couple of hours later to find it dumping its grey waste tank :-(. Doesn't seem right to us, but there again we are new to this game.

Couldn't agree more

Of course I agree with you both and I have been trying for decades to convince the likes of Mercedes, Porsche, Maclaren, Scania,
Renault, etc.
that they are wasting thousands of man hour and million of pounds, not to mention the bother of putting Kevlar and Carbon Fibre bodies on their vehicle just to save a few Kilo's because the weight of a vehicle does not effect the MPG!

Do you really think the manufactures aim at weight loss was for MPG. I can see the guy buying his McLaren at 500k asking the salesman "how many miles to the gallon will I get".... however I do not doubt that less weight will equal better mpg. But lets put it in perspective. Ive just driven from the south of Spain to the west of Scotland around 1700 miles. I might have saved a fiver maybe a tenner if id done the journey with completely empty tanks. I dare say the amount of crap I take with me and don't use would be a greater saving. Imagine if i did both I could save 25 pounds. Truth is I didn't buy a motorhome because of my need to save money. If id wanted to go down that road Id have bought the McLaren

Won't make much difference once the 'mid/late-life-crisis' owners get in them as they are usually not very svelte like! I understand a human sized 'shoe horn' is also supplied as standard! :ROFLMAO:

As I said, "I agree with you" but I bet that same McLaren purchaser asks, "how fast will it go and what does it handle like"
both of which are altered by weight and it's distribution. (somewhat like a M/H perhaps!)

Travelling with full fresh water tanks, unless your wild camping, is not looked upon as the efficient way of travelling.
More weight, Less MPG's!
I think this has been done to death on other threads. I think a majority travel with full water and empty waste when possible. The inconvenience of being without water definitely outweighs the possibility of a marginal increase in fuel consumption.

How ironic that you make a statement like that when you have just perpetuated the subject by adding yet another post,

No, it is lazy and inconsiderate and makes motorhomers look just as bad as they are painted, in some quarters.

I get the impression from posts on a variety of subjects that some owners need to cut running and touring costs in every way they can due a reduced or insufficient income and/or have raided their pension pot to buy their 'Pride and Joy'.

Chacun a son goût.

I know its been mentioned before about narrow/ wide beem and other craft on the uk and European waterways dumping grey water straight into the water.
Thats kitchen waste and also water from showers and bathrooms .
Also bilge water out of the engine compartment often containing oil, diesel and other nasty pollutants.
I know as we had one for 15 years.
I drain my tank once i leeve a site by just leaving the drain open a little bit.
Water from washing pots occasionally and the shower.

So is carrying unnecessary items which we all tend to do because certain Motorhome payloads allows us to.
I would much rather carry fresh water.

As my very last post on this thread, can I say just how surprised and disappointed I have been by the angry reaction, by some, to what I thought was a helpful and polite post, to a fellow Motorhomer.

I thought Funsters were supposed to be helpful and happy, it saddens me to think, perhaps I'm wrong!
