Is almost everyone on here loaded?

And they may only have 2 or 3 weeks, have children to entertain and restricted to peak season.
We have done a mixture of Aires, municipal and commercial sites. This one at Chateau Eperviere has been our most expensive but our 11 year old is thrilled with the pools, basketball court and space to chill...and get free wifi 🤣.
I would happily just use Aires but we need to meet everyone's needs otherwise it wouldn't work for us.

Last time we were at Collioure I thought it was 12 euros including a free shuttle into the town, has it gone up?
We stayed on the Criques de Porteils site to get sea views. We were right on edge of the cliff. I’m sure it was more than 12 Euros though … we had some vouchers and ACSI so it was a no brainier.

Everyone to their choice but overnighting on a sports club field doesn't appeal to me one bit.
It was four overnights, in a great location, what appeals to you then?

Just lately we have had numerous posts saying £30 upwards to £100 pounds a night is good value to just park a van up for a night, does anyone stop and think state pension is around £20 a day for everything, now I am not pleading poverty but does that sound like good value, it doesn't to me.
Have people today just got too much money , iv worked months for less than £20 , in a different time I know but it just makes me stop and think before shelling out these amounts, in fact I couldn't do it.
Has money just lost all value now?
Couldn't agree more. Can't get my head around A, wages & B, prices in the UK.
Maybe I'm naïve but I'd be surprised if many folk with motorhomes have only the state pension as their income.
🙋‍♂️Yep& nothing else.

Having worked dam hard for my very little private pension that gave me the money for the motorhome in the first place, I save very hard for the times that I go away on holiday where I watch the pennies… however I will pay a fair price for where I want to be if there is no cheaper alternative but I will not stay anywhere where I feel I’m being ripped off but it doesn’t happen often.

I only mainly go to Europe so although it might cost me a little more in diesel and ferry I will make savings on free overnight parking and as I tend to stay over there for months it works out cheaper…

But I do watch the £’s very closely….😎

I do a mix of all, but prefer the solitude of being away somewhere quiet, and usually that means no or small cost.
I do the odd time go to a particular site that costs 45-55 per night, but even then I hardly ever plug in. I just like the place for the odd visit.
Apart from that I hardly ever do usual sites and hook up.

I spent plenty money on my van electric set up to enable longer time off grid, not to save me money on sites but get me where I prefer to be with the facilities I need on bard.

My son stayed at a Premier Inn last week in Leicester at £96 a night.

State pension is less than minimum wage
You question the value of a piece of ground to park your van - how much is your property/farm worth.
How much is a property worth in the SE of Britain worth.
Some people shop at Iceland, some at Waitrose or even Harrods.

It's all down to making a judgement on what's value for money for you...
£50 for a Premier Inn or £250 for a Sheraton?

Bizarre attitude 🤷‍♂️

Currently on a very nice camping and caravanning site in Mablethorpe with hard standing and awning plus hook up.
4 nights and 5 days at £150.
That works out at £37.50 per night.
BUT.........
That is for 4 adults, 2 children and a dog, so just for the humans its £6.25 pp.
By comparison, a premier inn for 4 ie 2 adults and 2 kids at this time of year is just sub £100 PER NIGHT!
So, whilst I am in no way “loaded”, for me at this time, our site is , to us, a favourable proposition for what we want to do, when we want to do it and in whatever way we feel like doing it.
The only thing thats “free” at the moment , is Air.
You have to pay yer moneys and take yer choices Im afraid these days.
Still think camping and motorhoming is fair value for money.
By comparison, my son is currently at a 5 star hotel in Turkey at just shy of 5 grand for 3, For a WEEK!!!!!
Now that to me, is excessive and in no way could I afford that.
Just my 20 pence worth.
Off now for another beer.
Cheers 🍻😊

Not easily definable, Les, but somewhere 'cosy'- a partly hedged pitch on a small rural CL type of site or in woodland or on a river or canal bank or harbourside or hillside overlooking a scenic panorama.............
I've never toured by m/h in the the U.K. and never have any difficulty finding those types of places abroad, plus I live only a 17 miles drive from Dieppe (Newhaven ferry port). (y)

Yep, but in the circumstances he didn't have time to book well in advance.

We spent two nights on a camp site £30 a night with hookup.
Had to turne pacemaker up for that one but ther was a swimming pool and bar.
The place we are at the moment is £12 a night and we payed £10 at girvine.
The rest have Ben average £4 a night for carparking and a lot of places free parking
We're having a ball for not much money.
Food is costing us average £10 a day and a bit on beer probibly three or for every few days

If it wasn't for getting involved with councils and h&s and other rubbish I would be glad to let folks park in my fields for a fiver, money for nowt.
We got permission for 5 caravans/motorhomes 5 years ago, then it was just to park on the field but now I think you have to provide services, water, shower, toilets, bins. Not sure, only stayed on a few recently and they provided all of these. Don't want the hassle and means you can't go away yourself 🤷‍♀️

We like to have our head on a pillow nobody else has had their head on. Hence Boat and Camper when the bl***y thing decides to arrive work for us. If on a cruise or hotel we take our own. Just one of our little peculiarities but pillows can be filthy harbingers of micro life!

Currently on our site in Mablethorpe, sitting outside in a fleece jacket with a small table lantern whilst Mrs Yp and the adults watch TV and kids asleep, whilst I and son in law enjoy a quiet beer.
Bloke next to us in a brand new mh , absolutely beutiful outfit, and with a face like a well slapped arse!!!!
He and Mrs keep arguing, and he spends more time faffing with stuff, has all the toys, satelite etc and is constantly opening doors and slamming about.
Isabella this and isabella that plus chairs and cadac and god knows what else and I am sure some stuff still has tags on and in its wrapping.
Went to fetch water in his watering can, passed me and I tried to exchange pleasantries, and all I got was a grunt, and I would give my back teeth to own such a lovely well equipped van and be smiling like the joker from batman if I had such a thing.
Some people just dont know what they have, or how to enjoy what they have.
Ours is a 2001 coachbuilt that sleeps 6 plus awning accomodation, cheap yes, modern, not quite, but happy……..
You betcha we are………
And it dont own us a penny!
Its horses for courses im afraid, and I know which course I want to be in.

I didn't buy a m/h in order to have cheap holidays.
I did !
My last motorhome depreciated -£5 in 5 years and cost me £130 tunnel return and next to nothing apart from diesel for about 3 months holiday per year for 2 and sometimes the grumpkids.
I couldnt afford a package holiday

Daughter has also taken her 3 offspring to France this year as it was a dam site cheaper than Cornwall.
She is paying for campsites and upgraded to a wigwam sort of tent for all of them.

He’s probably thinking about the £1500 a month commitment for the next ten years

I suspect there are those on here that are fully loaded, and those that are bumping along making ends meet, with the spectrum inbetween.

Many are possibly later in life and retired having bought the biggest asset of their life (after a house if they own one) and are using savings or income to fund a life style which would be unaffordable otherwise (i.e. hotels or appartments).

I don’t really care what others have as always someone has better or worse than me.
I have a fairly nice van and do try to talk to anyone but find a lot of people with older vans don’t want to engage in conversation indeed surprised as this being my first van how unsociable a lot of people are be it in new or old vans☹️☹️

Have met some very nice people in the last 18 months but not many.

Depends how you define “loaded”.

Daddy buys a horse for his daughter £150,000.00 Horse gets kicked by another horse and breaks its leg. Horse gets put to sleep and daddy buys another.

Daddy also has a yacht (motorboat). A little bored in Grimaud harbour so fires the engines up and sets over the golf de st.Tropez for €xxx lunch.

After lunch, heads back to grimaud. The boat costs more in fuel than lunch did.

That’s people I know and that’s what I call loaded.

£160 a night for a beach front plot on playa montroig in august https://www.playamontroig.com/en?gc...JdoUbcuMbyeViCsrSnF8aTwOMKCumFARoCaOAQAvD_BwE.

A drop in the ocean, if you will pardon my pun.

Never given a thought to how much state pension I get and I've been drawing mine for 10 years.
Maybe I'm naïve but I'd be surprised if many folk with motorhomes have only the state pension as their income.
weve only got a single state pension to live on and just enough savings to deny anything else
