The benefit system is great when not taken advantage of. How can we have people claiming job seekers allowance when there are thousands of job vacancies bonkers.

So we are currently away in France in our MH ( PVC ) which is fitted with both front and rear recording cameras with the rear view also active on the interior mirror all the time.
So minding our own business while I am following my sat on our way to a WWII bunker in Ouistreham.
We come to a mini round about where I notice a group of about 5 youths just hanging out on my right hand side at the entrance / braking zone of the mini roundabout , luckily for me I did not have to give way at the round about , as when I was just entering and driving around the roundabout I seen that one of the group had been hiding behind a tree , ready to jump onto any British vehicle that stopped at the roundabout, when I watched back the footage I seen that he had actually jumped out and began to chase after us ( our MH ) as we drove through the roundabout and even for a little bit after it.
I managed to cut the exact clip from the CCTV and have uploaded it here :
It was only after the guy stopped running after us that I realised why , Infront of us was a ferry terminal lol , I'd been to busy paying attention to the sat nav directions to notice any ferry signs.
Rubbish!...I have it from the horses mouth (a friend who worked until recently in the bureaucratic section of the EU for many years) who told me that the UK has the most generous benefits in the world - never mind the EU. He had access to all the figures. It seems England is not the best at paying benefits compared with Europe, in fact France is one of the best payers of benefits and pay the most, so it seems they are better off in France…?

He was referring to ALL welfare benefits. The entire system, not just unemployment. As I understand it your friend is wrong, we pay considerably less than France and Germany. The figures are easy to find.
Economic migrants don't come for here for benefits, they come for a myriad of other reasons. One of the biggest draws is that they already have family and friends here. Language is a big driver too, but other things are attractive, such as once you are here we will rarely deport. As opposed to France where their process is very long and with a very good chance of being deported at the end of it. We have no ID cards, making black market working a doddle, and they can disappear forever. Whereas France prohibits work and is stricter with their checks. There are lots of reason economic migrants want to come here, but I don't think benefits are one them

The exchange rates can give a false illusion. A weaker pound will make "their" benefits seem more generous. At the time of my friend telling me his data, you could get about 1.35 Euros to the pound, Now at about 1.10 Euros, our system seems less generous. So was I.
That’s what everyone say isn’t it…? They come for the benefits….He was referring to ALL welfare benefits. The entire system, not just unemployment.
Exactly. If the benefits are better in the EU, why come to the UK?That’s what everyone say isn’t it…? They come for the benefits….![]()

Thanks for this. Good to get some facts. The fact that people want to come to the UK makes me feel especially lucky to already live there. And the fact that we have a benefits system that looks after people is one of the things that we should be proud of.Here's another perspective, https://www.refugeecouncil.org.uk/information/refugee-asylum-facts/the-truth-about-asylum/

Still no answers to my question "What is so wrong about the EU that makes so many of these migrants eager to get to the UK". If it's not welfare, then what is it? These migrants are 90% male and of working age. I personally think there is this mass delusion that the streets here are paved with gold and this myth is being perpetuated by the internet/smartphones.As Jim said try reading about it and get some facts from various source’s rather then just one mate….![]()
Exactly. Eventually there won’t be enough working tax payers to support the lazy and shiftless. The benefit system is great when not taken advantage of. How can we have people claiming job seekers allowance when there are thousands of job vacancies bonkers.
Then why are they all getting in inflatable boats? I just don’t believe that!It seems England is not the best at paying benefits compared with Europe, in fact France is one of the best payers of benefits and pay the most, so it seems they are better off in France…?

Yes what this proves is that the real problem we have is economic migrants with no real need of asylum. I don’t believe for a moment that these people don’t get money from our tax payers. If ever there was a case for asylum it would be the current problem caused by Mad Vlad. Those poor souls get £6 when they finally arrive in Poland completely exhausted. Here's another perspective, https://www.refugeecouncil.org.uk/information/refugee-asylum-facts/the-truth-about-asylum/
