I thought Dick Turpin was dead !

NFU were £300+ more for us than our current premium.

I tried several companies recommended by members on here, most were hundreds of pounds more expensive.🤷‍♂️
I agree NFU £400+ more expensive than AIB for us, I’m with NFU for the car and I have to say though it’s cheap for that and when I had a claim they were brilliant.

does this mean if your parked overnight on a journey i.e not on a camp site you may not be insured

Your guess is as good as mine. 🤷‍♂️ However, since my policy states I’m parked on a road, that means I’m covered……outside my house anyway.👍
If you're parked overnight you'd be IN the MH so it wouldn't be left unattended as it would when just parked on your drive/road at home, so yes it would be covered. If you left it overnight all on it's lonesome though, not sure.

The devil will be in the detail of the insurer’s small print, as always.👍

Our car is in our garage. (y)
My neighbours Audi TT was in his garage, didn't stop them having a go at getting it out, they made enough noise to wake him and ran away

The problem with most security is they keys to it are on the same key ring as the vehicle keys so once they've got them they're away

when she said ‘that’ll 'just' be £72.71p to pay today !!!
I'd have just been 'cut off' & left it to them to chase me.But as said a waste of time without knowing who?

If you're happy with who you're with then stick with them, but don't take anything for granted.
I've usually found a day spent every year checking out the competition is a day well spent, on house, car or motorhome insurance. Martin Lewis suggests that the sweet spot is around 3-4 weeks before renewal - any later the prices start to creep up.
I think next year will be a kicker tho', I've heard that that insurance costs take a step up once you get over 70 - we will see 🙄

Do the rounds of Insurance companies every year……car, motorcycles, house etc.

Motorhomes, I’m finding, are far the hardest and complex of any of the insurances I need. Making sure you’re covered for all you needs is not straightforward. Look at how many Motorhome policies have inadequate glass cover for some.🤷‍♂️

I generally listen to what Martin Lewis as to say.👍

I shall continue with NFU Mutual. Not the cheapest but they make it clear that they don't charge for administrative changes to the policy and in my experience they don't.

Was pleasantly surprised a few days ago when changing my registration number to a personalised one with Lloyds Bank car insurance. Just logged into their online portal, clicked the edit icon next to the reg number and made the change. No admin charge for this.

Made a quick courtesy call to my motorhome insurer the other day to notify of a change of home address.
Call took approximately 3mins and after a few questions I was notified that it was not a problem and there would be no changes to the policy. All good I thought.
Then came the charge for changing the address on the paperwork ( which they don’t even post, just email ).
I realise very little is free these days and fully expected to pay around £20 or £25.
Oh how I laughed (NOT) when she said ‘that’ll 'just' be £72.71p to pay today !!!
I mean REALLY ? Just for an address change ?
I think I’ll be looking elsewhere come renewal day.
Maybe it’s just me but I truly felt I’d just been mugged !! Robbing b. . . . .

Rant over.
Dick Turpin is definitely not dead nor are all his friends and relatives they are everywhere. Just sayin......

I don't believe it. She's just having a laugh.

Insurers do BUT brokers don’t. People like AIB, Comfort etc are not the insurer and are not bound by the same regulation.
Brokers are also covered by the same regulations and requirements.

I was under the impression that ALL extra charges HAD to be written in your T & C's otherwise they were unenforceable.
Admin and cancellation charges will be in your policy documents, it is compulsory to set them out clearly.

Has anyone tried to add an admin charge when they have filled in an accident report, I wonder?? If they can, so can we?
Not MH connected but years ago I waited in all day for a TalkTalk engineer who never turned up. When I phoned I was told they'd 'forgotten' to tell him and would make another appt. I told them I expected a £30 refund on my bill and reminded them that if I'd not been available when the engineer called, they'd have charged ME £30. After a bit of a 'discussion' with a supervisor I did indeed get the £30 reduction....... Always worth a try !

My car insurance (specialist sports car policy)states it has to be inside my garage if parked at home after 10pm. However, if more than a mile from home it can park anywhere!

When I did Consultancy work and charged £100+ per hour, and we came across similar situations, my company solicitor used to enjoy the challenge. He often won!

I'm trying to work out how they got to £72.71?

That figure doesn't equate to a monetary value +vat.
No vat on insurance - just 12% insurance tax

But that changes nothing. A price of £72.71 incl. Ins. Tax of 12% results in a fee of £64.91.9.

Still doesn't make sense.

Insurance and sense in the same sentence - it'll never happen! Insurance tax won't apply to the admin fee portion - only the bit of premium for the post code change. It might be our perception that one area is much the same as another but different histories of thefts, fires, accidents, between different insurers will mean there's no logic anyway. My guess here is a premium of £42.60 + 12% tax = £47.71 + £25 admin = £72.71 ....ta daaaa

That would be be good.....
Except?
Surely the 'Admin Fee'? would attract VAT.

Back to the abacus!!!
