I have a solution for good Mobile Data (300G) whilst in Spain (then any zone 1 country)

I've had mixed experiences using a VPN for iPlayer. When I tried it on my Firestick using the Surfshark VPN I got a similar message. Likewise BT Sport. But for the last week on my laptop I've been watching iPlayer every night on my laptop without a VPN in Andalucia and Murcia. I don't know why this is working but it is. I should add that this has been using campsite WiFi in some places and mobile 4G in others.
Ive just installed ExpressVPN on my firestick and managed to use iplayer, youtube, my5 and ITV hub with no problem. The download speed has also improved from very little to 5 or 6 meg which seemed enough to stream the above services.
This was outside my house in Surrey (a notorious mobile data blackspot) BTW.
Will update, when we get arrive on the other side of the channel tomorrow.

I’ve used 52Gb in Portugal and it’s faster than any other we’ve had lately that’s for sure.

One question - how do we pay? Will they send an email, is there a section within your account on Tiekom.com that I cannot seem to find? It’s funny how we worry about not being able to pay 😝

That’s great thanks 😊

I’ve been looking in the right place, it just hasn’t appeared under my bills yet.

Thanks Carpmart - I was caught out by the Superdrug sim data cap - now saved by your recommendation and Camino’s excellent service She was not to be deterred by the first campsite in Barcelona - where after she had sent the sim - telling me they only collected post fortnightly!
Camino sent another sim by courier to our another site in Javea and it arrived the next day-it worked straight away -300GB -yippee

That’s certainly going the extra mile and I’m delighted to hear that you’re all sorted now! 👍🏻

Just arrived at the Azay Sur Cher aire near Tours and we're currently enjoying 30 meg up and download speeds with the 300 gig sim.
No problems, other than our gagets kept saying they were connected to the mifi but with no internet.
Tried again just now and all is good. I think it was a case of smart technology and thick operator.

Are the SIMs from Camino sent by a Signed For service, please? Just got home and there's a card in the box, with something to pick up from La Poste that needs signing for. Can't think what else it might be  The suspense is killing me!!! :ROFLMAO:

Well. it turns out it WAS my SIMs :) So, I'm now considering myself to be a part of the MHF Data Elite Club :)

Excellent news and welcome to the ‘club’!

By way of a pictorial update, we have used 166G so far this month and all is working fine…

Just received my SIM today, well before we depart the UK for Spain. Excellent service from Camino. Do I need to wait until I am in Spain to activate it? Thanks Carpmart "Harvey" for the recommendation.

Nope you activate before you leave and then use all the way through Europe. 👍🏻

Thanks Carpmart mines on its way to me as we speak an excellent service from them and they haven’t taken any money from me yet😊👍

We have purchased a mini router along with an antenna so we can try it it home .we have 2 x different sim providers to test with first. If it works well we will go down this route the OP has found. benefit to us would be the fact that we can take it with us in the van to use when away rather than having to buy data sims whilst still having to pay 30€/month fof the WiFi at home whilst away for anything up to 6 months.
Hopefully the stuff arrives today and we can test it.
Well we have tried the router & antenna using various direct providers & with degrees of success but nothing that can be classed as good, although the odd thing is that even with extremely slow speeds the wife can still watch tv on occasions ?
So having tried everything else I contacted Camino. card arrived to day & is up & running but is just proving that the situation is where we live & is as bad as all the others. benefit is that i can take it with me when i travel as opposed to paying for additional data sims + it will work better anywhere else than here. I think I shall have to look at running the aerial from other places although I have tried a few last week with no success.
Still ,thanks to the OP , Harvey, as it is still far more useful to me than the fixed system we had in the house before.

I received my SIM card today. I can only say that Camino really does go the extra mile. Spanish postal service couldn't get their act together and deliver to the campsite we booked onto, so when I spoke to her and asked her if there was anywhere I could collect from, she arranged for me to meet a colleague who brought the SIM to me. Dodgy exchange in a dusty car park - but the chap even helped me set it up in my Mifi device!! All up and running - only showing a 3G signal so far, but despite that seems pretty fast??!!

Can't recommend this service more highly, Thanks Carpmart

Gus if you can find out where the mobile phone transmitter locations in your area are, perhaps if you look at a topographical map you could find a position and elevation that your antenna can get line of sight to it, that may help considerably.

Wow - premium service right there. Seems we have landed on a real old school company who goes the extra mile… please you’re happy!!

Agree completely… I would suggest a directional antenna as opposed to the standard omnidirectional ones..

That is the problem.Since the earthquake in 2011 & the loss of masts on this side of Lorca most properties have a signal & the antenna lost were not replaced.

We had a satellite system that was line of sight . The strongest signal is from Lorca castle ,to the horth , but My neighbours 2 storey house + 60' palm trees prevent that direction. The east signal, from castle feli, also suffers that problem & to the south is completely blocked by the other neighbours property & buildings. The signal had to come from the west,& did ,but you could not stream as they throttled it. It also does not help that we are nigh on 1m lower than the other properties.
Even though this is far slower speeds both up & down my wife can at least stream.

We've been away for a while and our SIMs arrived while we weren't here. Collected them from La Poste yesterday but haven't had chance to contact Camino to activate one. So, she contacted me at 8.30pm tonight to ask if they'd arrived ok!!! Blown away with her Customer Service. Massive thank you to Harvey Carpmart for sharing this amazing deal :) (y)

As posted above, even 300Gb might not last a month for some. What happens when you run out early, can you start the next month early or top up in some way?

No idea. I will ask Camino as I’m likely to run out later this month! 🤦‍♂️

Thanks, yes it was your post that made me think it might be close. Appreciate there is also a 400Gb option (I think), but knowing what options you have, if any, might be useful.
