Hymer Dynamic Line Water Ingress Issues

looks that a lot of the interior would have to be removed to repair the water damage may even be a body off job

Yes read the whole thread this evening.... I need to investigate tomorrow....thanks for letting me know though.

As others have said If I was in this awful position, I think I’d be taking my van back to Germany. Most of the UK Hymer dealers IMO are not equipped to undertake such work. One man who could is Peter Hambilton but clearly this is warranty stuff, and he’s not a Hymer dealer.

Checked mine today B678DL (2017) no water ingress that I could identify. (y)

Well it may not look very pretty but the tape is doing it’s job while van is parked up. We have had thunderstorms and very heavy rain for 6 hours or more and no ingress of water.

It must be coming in via the wheel arch liner seal just hoping that if you get wet weather on the drive back it doesn't come in from the road spray underneath as the trim you have sealed I'm fairly certain is only a cosmetic trim.

It will be interesting to see if spray on underside of wheel arch does enter, the underfloor is very clean around ingress area suggesting it may not. Intention was to move to another site today but AEMet have amber warnings in place for thunderstorms and very heavy rain until late evening we are not in a rush so will sit tight till tomorrow. The motorway around Barcelona is manic at the best of times without adding torrential rain and spray into the mix.

Looks like it is just a sealing problem then. If they know about the problem you would think they would do a recall. Then the problem could be caught early before any damage.
Since Erwin Hymer died a few years ago company has been run by accounts.

Hi Lenny, interesting he says “all” wheel arches need to be removed, maybe it’s a typo?

Could just mean all effected ones or could be referring to inner and the outer trim. Or even a translation error from Germany.
You will certainly want all the others inspected throughly.

Have just queried it with my dealer and stated my displeasure that the wooden sides and back panel cannot be found on their parts screen. They will need replacing I can push easily push my finger into the corner of the back panel

Doesn't mean Hymer can't supply the part not rocket science to cut a bit timber to size Hymer will have a drawing on file for it.
Probably not on the dealers parts list because not a part expected to need replacing.

Agreed Lenny but as Hymer had been aware of the issue they would also know that the first indications of this problem is water under the garage floor mat and water damage to these panels so should hold a stock (they will be an absolute swine to fit as fixings and screws from the back in the double floor)

Such a shame you were unable to change your ferry, and go home via Bad Waldsee . You could have got the Hull ferry home from Zeebrugge or Rotterdam - an easy drive from Bad Waldsee, and could have had it all sorted, by the time you got home.

It is but I would be a lot out of pocket cancelling the booking.

Could it be rain water getting in via the garage door seals? I had this problem on my 2003 B Star-line. I only tracked it down by shutting myself in the garage and get my wife to direct a hose at and around the garage door. My solution was to add additional sealing around the door. I used rubber draught-proofing strip. So far, so good
Very trusting ;):D2

Agree that would certainly be my plan too, get it sorted in Bad Waldsee by the people who built it.

That would be my plan but we have been away since early August and cannot delay our return home.

Johns cross did a great repair on a motorhome we had but it was only a section of floor and lower part of back of motorhome no parts were supplied from Burstner.

Just back in the U.K. last night Paul, couple of nights here in Chichester ferry was 3 hours late due to adverse weather before we head Northwards so no updates as yet. Intention once home is to discuss the way forward with dealer and keep in touch with others with same problem to compare notes on solutions offered.

Surely an exalted Hymer does not leak, you must all be mistaken:D

I was with a Hymer dealer the other day and after a few minutes of chatting I asked if he had heard of any reports of leaks to the rear/arches/garages of A-class vans.

He said "nope, not heard of that one but we've had a few back recently with leaking rear windows".

Interesting meeting at dealers today with the warranty manager and head technician, Hymer have apparently sent out a seal kit and instructions to do both rear wheel arches. At my insistance we looked at the alcove on a new B588DL on the forecourt and the structural implications of renewing the damaged panels technician didn’t see a problem, they have it in writing a bodge up job will not be accepted. So van is booked in for 3rd December and they require it for at least a week to rectify the other outstanding warranty issues.
