I made a mistake and I did ask for clarification, that is not negative, just a mistake and I will happily apologise to the op for it.By suggesting that based on the number plate that the advertised vehicle may not be genuine
Maybe you should offer an apology for your mistake ?

Now what about the tyre dates???
D.
Happens to us all when we are old,,BUSBYSarcasm is the lowest form of wit. I appear to have got the numbers mixed up, it happens.
My apologies to the op but I'd still like the dates of the tyres please.

I would prefer to buy a vehicle at a cheaper price knowing that the cam belt needs changing. I could then get the work done by someone I know and trust, and also have the benefit of any claim if it should fail soon after changing.I would have the cam-belt replaced, it is well overdue by age, not miles, and if required four new tyres.
Can you imagine what would happen if it goes bang during a test drive.
This will reassure any potential buyer.
add the cost of doing this to asking price..
Dave was correct to ask about both these matters.. I would have done the same..
That's just my view..

As long as the warranty is transferable to the new ownerBuy a vehicle you know needs a belt replacement drive it down road and it breaks it is chance you take buy vehicle with belt done fails you are covered - do the belt and increase price by the belt cost
Garage work is guaranteed ( Think it is about 1 year ) for cambelt replacement against faulty workmanship - as long as you have receipt is what i mean so they fit kits then their work has to be done properly been down that road and they had to redo the job - over a year up to 2yrs manufacturer - gates is 2 yrs i believe provided job done properly in 1st placeAs long as the warranty is transferable to the new owner
That's not the timing belt, it's the auxiliary belt which drives things like alternator, power steering etc. The timing belt is inside the black plastic cover at the top of your photos.View attachment 248461 View attachment 248461 View attachment 248462
This was timing belt 8 months after garage doing job - they failed to tighten tensioner pulley and the nut fell off - heard it bounce - saw this ended up on recovery lorry - garage had to sort due poor workmanship - new belt kit and belt cover
Timing belt has cut through the plastic housing that is timing belt just below the upper nut the tensioner pulley nut came offThat's not the timing belt, it's the auxiliary belt which drives things like alternator, power steering etc. The timing belt is inside the black plastic cover at the top of your photos.

Try and zoom in on 3rd photo it is the timing belt which has started to cut through plastic cover due to nut falling off tensioner pulleyThat's not the timing belt, it's the auxiliary belt which drives things like alternator, power steering etc. The timing belt is inside the black plastic cover at the top of your photos.

My apologies, I didn't see that detail in the photos initially.Try and zoom in on 3rd photo it is the timing belt which has started to cut through plastic cover due to nut falling off tensioner pulley
I can’t believe this thread.
I would ask @Jim to let you start another without all the negative shit.
It’s a lovely van, at a good price.
If it needs tyre changes or can belt replacement at some point, so bloody what?
Buy it or not.

Blimey not wanting to sell motorhome quickly, simply looking around and maybe upgrade downgrade or simply do something completely different like purchase a boat in France and cruise back, or stick deposit on space travel trip.
Dave is in the trade and rightfully raised points of interest to us all. I am sure we are all carefull before making rash decisions as i should be (take a few deep breaths and respond to listed post in a few days) he is representing somebody else`s interest. Now taking on board timing belt and tyres 20,000 odd thousand miles i thought would be okay for a belt, and as tyres i have always took a coin to measure tread depth, but as raised i will inform potential buyers stronger than usual of these issues, not wanting to be classed as a scammer cheat or dishonest in anyway. I can appreciate not many people know of me. Now i am sure anyone looking at the van will pick up other issues and rightly point them out.
This raises the question of how do you price a motorhome ?. do i organise new tyres and belt change, raise the price and re advertise or haggle. People will want as much info as possible as they may have to travel great distances for their dream purchase.
Thanking everybody for your thoughts and contribution in this posting.
Good point now go add some on mine ha ha haAll comments keep the ad current and on the first page
