Obviously I’m not including fuel
Why not?
I can get pretty much anywhere in the UK for the mileage it would take to get to a ferry port...
Then the travelling through France, and more miles down to Spain... Blah blah...

Plus I don't want to be away for 89 days at once...

You see, we're all different... And going to Europe just doesn't work for me.

With respect, I've been following your thread and would not enjoy parking up in most of where you've posted... even if it was free.
This year were far too high so booked the Hull Ferry
Wow …. we have always used the tunnel but last time tried Irish Ferries and thought it was great value and experience so have booked again , out in July and back October … excellent value at €200 and as it was a St Patricks day offer we got a free upgrade to flexi .

Like I said you enjoy your UK trips and I will enjoy my Europe wide ones 👍

What's wrong with where we are at the moment, right next to a lake, very good cycle path & it's free but will have to pay €7 a night after the 1st May if we stay.

€200 return crossing with Irish Ferries( booked already and it’s a flexi ticket) .Paid aires for say half the period say €12 per night x 45 night = €540 so less than €800 in total ( don’t forget unlike the UK there are lots of free Aires in France ) … Obviously I’ve not including fuel and food as that will be they same anywhere also I don’t have a dog so no idea what that costs .
To each his own and enjoy your travels .
Insurance??

That looks spot on .

Hi All,
We go over the water from Dover - and have done for the last 15 years or so. However, we do the odd trip in the UK - to see family etc. (Some of them are very odd). We plan to leave the UK exploring til the gap between no longer being able to face overseas trips and death - this will give us about three weeks to take a quick trip around the country before our one way trip to Switzerland.
Joking apart - we plan to keep going as long as we can - perhaps taking the 'Thelma and Louise' option off the Dartford Bridge.

D

There is no way I would own a motorhome if I could only tour the UK. The UK doesn’t want motorhomes, or provide services for them. Europe is so much easier, cheaper, and inclusive for motorhoming.
If there are no services for motorhomes in the UK what have I been using for the last 15 years in my motorhome in the UK ?
Think before you post is my advice.

No, it's not.
It's different, but not better.
Sounds like you've not been over yet. You may prefer the UK, but by any metric, touring in the EU is better.
Better camping facilities
Less expensive
Better roads
Better camping locations (nearer to towns)
Less traffic
Better weather
Better cycling facilities,
Cheaper fuel
Far fewer road delays
More free camping locations
Better preserved historic towns and villages
More variety of food
Better standard of catering all round
Far more and better outdoor eating places

Now you're entitled to prefer camping in the UK and that's OK but you cannot say it's better without saying how.

Got a short trip planned to France next month 1st to 19th June. Unfortunately work cut it short.
But looking Forward to the long drive to the tunnel and then it on the freedom and chill out that is France.
Heading to the dordogne as never been there yet

Why don't you give us a list of where motorhoming in the UK is measurably better instead of using words like "rubbish" and "tosh" and calling people "silly".

Because there are fantastic places both in the uk and Europe so there is no need to league table them , to do so would be silly .
