A statement has been made that most motorhomers only tour in the UK. It may be true or not, I havent a clue. We have a lot of members though so could be fairly representative if enough votes are cast.

It will be interesting certainly, but NOT representive of the UK generally, but of this - and likely other Motorhoming - forum/s
All surveys tend to be self-selecting, but there is little you can do to avoid this. Maybe get an set of questions added to the 10 year Census? :)

UK touring at the moment but actively considering the strange lands of onions and garlic
Don't! You know what Tootles thought of hooped shirts and snails!

If I was restricted to UK only I think I would have to seriously consider my motorhome use. I think a caravan and car may give more flexibility where parking is restricted and Aires are rare.

Yorkshire……??? ;)

Too close to Hull. I did hear that they still point at cars on that side of the Humber. Plus I live in fear of the contract that Minxy has apparently taken out on me for her next fresh dinner

It was a conscious choice as one reason I stopped working was visiting several foreign countries just about every week

It’s a “yes” now but that’ll change 🤪
We’re enjoying the UK though so no hurry to work out overseas usage of the motorhome.
We’re still visiting new sites & sights.

Only UK so far in the last 3 years but I live in hope that the boss will let us go abroad soon 🤪

If staying UK only, it does tilt back in favour of a caravan given some of the issues facing motorhomes in the UK. It can be alleviated to a degree by concentrating on the bit past Hadrians Wall though.

I think your survey is already proving that statement incorrect on the forum at least🤔

Same same here. Lived in Europe for 20 years, but without the van, so I’ve done a lot of touring there already. Strange thing was, that I have hardly seen a lot of the uk, so works for us at the moment.

Mostly Europe, but I do go abroad to Wales every year. Never really head north though. I am exceedingly old and I want to feel proper sun on me. Tugged up to Scotland before we got the moho. Found it cold, wet, sunless and an impossible amount of hungry midges. If I am gonna be bitten, I'll take a single mossie sniper in Italy rather than a battalion of Scottish midges.

Yet to tour in the UK, couple of weekends away locally but always head across the channel for anything over a weekend.

Whilst a worker bee, I was lucky enough to travel the world.
But knew nothing of my home nation
Now 'retired', I still take foreign holidays, just not in the motorhome.
Just booked a Rhine River cruise for October, and have a full calendar of UK MH touring.
Best of both worlds.

Don't get the UK is better suited to caravans remark.

good you included the "on the forum at least" bit, as the statement was right from the outset referring to 'UK Motorhomers' and NOT "motorhome fun members" :D

Thank you yes I do see the point you are making, however when you look at the membership numbers of MHF we are a pretty big chunk of UK Motorhomers aren’t we?🤔😊

Who in their right mind want's to restrict themselves to Motor homing in the UK. No Aires, Campsite prices through the roof, height barrier restrictions on most if not all costal car parks. Anti motorhome brigade everywhere. Terrible roads, over congested and riddled with pot holes. Wilding, virtually impossible and the only place remaining is overpriced campsite's (God help you if your pitched incorrectly by an inch or two, Jobsworth will be ready to castrate you). Europe and beyond has it all ! One only has to venture into Europe once in their motorhome to realise that the UK is still in the dark ages when it comes to how they regard Motorhomes and their user's. A bit of a useless poll IMO.

I believe that the forum may be biased towards those who travel abroad purely because they possibly joined Fun to gain information about aires, pet passports and the best way to avoid the peripherique in Paris. 🤷‍♀️
