I need an EHU cable and I was wondering what length is recommended. I don't want to bother with a lot of unneeded cable.

After over 30 years across Europe I have found a 2 x 25m rolls to suffice in all situations.

One of the advantages of using a polarity checker is that it also checks for earth faults. Don't use hook up very often but once in spain found the post had a earth to neutral fault.

If you have the room. Go for a long one! Then you won’t be disappointed. In Francei have found they are not that far away, or I was just lucky. Planning on taking 25mt one anyway.

15m blue and 25m orange (heavey duty) for UK. When heading to Spain I chuck the 10m one which is normally for use when parked on the drive. We once stopped on a site in Spain where some of the pitches where a good 50m from the hook up point.

I have 25m very heavy orange cable =- can anyone recommend a cable reel that is EASY to wind up? Have got two and both are incredibly difficult and awkward to wind with pathetic handle. :)
I use one like this

and removed the sockets and put a hole in the barrel to accept the plug when I wind on. Best I've had.

I use this.

Brennenstuhl Garant Storage Reel - Empty Reel-Ø 290mm https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B003A6C4H8/?tag=mhf04-21

Takes 35m of 2.5mm cable. I always unravel all of it and it takes seconds to wind up, I use an awning peg to make a big handle and voila.

Usually in the UK I could use the 10m one I have but I try to save weight and if the electric post is more than 35m away, I have gas. If I were in France for the winter I would take another 15m just in case as I would really need the hook up.

This has no IP rating, so no guarantee of any standard at all. The spec says it's 'Splashproof'. There's not really anything that is 'waterproof', just various levels of protection, from 'splashproof' to 'submerged to 100m depth'

The round blue connectors are weatherproof, rated IP44 which is 'splashes from any direction'. I see nothing that says these protective boxes are any better. There are literally millions of these blue connectors in use throughout UK and Europe, in all weathers. They won't stand being actually submerged, but apart from that they are fine in all weathers.
^^^ this, tbh when we have to join ours together just raise off ground using tent pegs so they dont sit in a puddle. We use them in all conditions no issues just make sure they have the gasket fitted and/or use MK etc.
