How do we make a diesel motorhome ULEZ compliant without buying euro 6 engine

As an observation 20per cent of CO2 pollution in London is caused by Gas Central heating systems. No legislation against those yet !
Now you will only have to pay if your vehicle is caught on an LEZ Camera , these are spread about on the main Arterial access roads into the Greater London Area. Many minor roads are not covered. You may have also noticed the TFL. is now skint. They do not have resources to install the Cameras to cover all access roads. It is possible to use the « back doubles to avoid detection in a lot of cases. Not wishing to spend cover £100k on a Euro 6 truck we are carefully checking out the routes which we can use without incurring a payment. LEZ Caméras are usually on gantries across the road carriageway, there is always one camera for each lane. Don’t confuse them with CCTV and Speed Cameras !

Would this be exempt?

I believe gas boilers will not be allowed in new properties from 2026.

It always baffles me why anyone would want to go inside the M25 .
Plenty go to either Crystal Palace or Abbey wood sites which will have a big impact on them.
We used them lots back in the pre covid days, enjoyed the London theatre scene. Sadly It’s not going to happen anytime soon though.

There are systems available that can turn Euro 2 to better than Euro 6
You might be able to achieve euro 6 performance with respect to emissions but can you change the type approval on the V5 fo euro 6?
I genuinely thought you couldn't.

In the not too distant future Euro 6 will be old hat, as new technologies advance.
Just a thought, to reduce emissions by 50% do away with 50% of cars!
Interesting that Hybrid cars engine is not emissions tested for certification or MOT!
The conventional engines fitted are quite old technology, so as with many things it amounts to smoke and mirrors, feeding the same greed ridden sources

OOOOhhhhh did not realise that putting a euro 6 into ours wouldnt work - we looked at that but was extremely expensive. From what I gather if the ULEZ stays as the current map we will have to pass through the ULEZ so the odd daily charge we can afford, but if LBWF get the zone extended to the whole of the borough we will be completely stuffed from what you have said.

I was asking because as you know I am not very technical. So from what you say our choice is buy a a ready built euro 6 diesel or a 2006 + petrol ( and they are gold dust) as the worst scenarios if the zone extends to include us.
Two choices as I see it mate..
Get a set of dodgy reg plates... or move !!
Either will be easier and cheaper than trying to get your van LEZ approved !

Still not clear on this...
If I go to Crystal palace site for 2weeks in a non compliant moho and not move whilst there am I charged
1....two days travel to get into ULEZ and back out...or
2.... am I charge for the whole period I am in the zone I.e. 14 days... ????

you might find some south of the river but the north circular is continuous with few ways to leave and enter that isnt a major junction

Perhaps because it doubles, trebles my day rate. Just my opinion.
having moved to Devon It would have quadrupled mine at least to go back & work there + it would only have been for 40 hours/week instead of 80 or 90 but even as a born & bred Londoner I couldn't face it.

The issue is not CO2 but PM10s (particulate matter below 10 microns in size). Diesel engines emit them, they are so small they don't get caught in your nose hairs but enter your lungs and either stop there or enter the blood. Then enter the cells and then the nuclei and interfere with cellular reproduction = cancer = 9,500 extra deaths/year.
Petrol engines too but to a lesser extent, so the rule is a 2006+ petrol engine or a 2016+ diesel engine, today.

Hey all,

came across this thread and thought i would throw a two penneth having done a good chunk of research recently. It is possible to make a Euro 5 motorhome Euro 6 compliant. I have been speaking to a company in the NW who does just that, without swapping the engine or even working a lot on the engine. It's a fully accredited after-exhaust system utilising Adblue and an SCR cat and includes certification with the Energy Saving Trust and the local councils running ULEZ and CAZs. If anyone is interested in any more details just let me know.

When i spoke to them they were looking to do an editorial for a Motorhome magazine to try and get their message out to the masses.

Now that is interesting.. any idea what sort of outlay we are talking about. Appreciate exact figures impossible but roughly will be close enough for me to enquire further.!!!!

Edit...Now how did that happen... just wrote that bit.😃😃

As far as I am aware the cost is around £5.5K plus VAT. Interestingly (i thought!) they have done a similar conversion on a Land Rover Defender which was how i stumbled across them. Hope this helps

It has been pointed out that you only pay to drive within the LEZ. Not park.
Our trucks have been going in and out of London since 1st March. We have an Autopay Account set up so that we will be charged IF WE ARE PICKED UP ON AN LEZ CAMERA. If you avoid the main entry and exit arterial roads , and do some research to find if there are any Cameras on the main roads near you then you should be able to avoid them. To date my Autopay Account shows nil activity!! We can go from Kent into Stamford Hill via the M11 and out again via Brimsdown without tripping a camera.

You could sell the place you live and move up north. Then you could buy a 2 or 3 bed house and update your van and still have money in the bank. .

Why anyone would want to live in the sh!t hole we call the capital is beyond my comprehension.

These post that describe london as some sort of banana republic capitol are ridiculous its one of the most desired places in the world .Also its home to many of us i notice papajohn doesnt even list his true location prefering to hide behind a second rate album name

Come on Mitzimad, you've seen plenty of posts stating that I live in Scarborough.
Only thing down there that I'd welcome up here is your council tax rates. We, or should I say our corrupt council, have one of the highest rates in the country
