How do we make a diesel motorhome ULEZ compliant without buying euro 6 engine

Options:

Park the van outside the ULEZ
Sell the van and replace with a compliant one.

The only thing that will get you a stay of execution (Until April 22) is if the van is owned by a charity.
How about you drive the local congregants to the Church, or go an take the Scouts to camp ?

I run a Scout group just outside the ULEZ, we have had to sell two minibuses because of emissions and will now have to sell the replacement before April 22.

Come next year we will then need to try to raise another £15-18K, for the third time in 15 years, to buy yet another replacement.
It's a lot of fund raising .......

Straight from the TFL website:

"From 25 October 2021, ULEZ is expanding from central London to create a single larger zone up to the North Circular Road (A406) and South Circular Road (A205). The North and South Circular Roads themselves are not included in the zone. Find out how to prepare for the ULEZ expansion.

Even if you make a short trip in the zone using a vehicle that doesn't meet the ULEZ emissions standards, you need to pay the daily change. However. if you are parked within the zone but don't drive, you don't need to pay the ULEZ charge."

I live inside the new extended ULEZ but buying a Peugeot Expert to convert into a campervan. Am I correct in understanding that I only pay ont he days that I drive, ie leave London and come back (£25 added to any weekends away!)

I know nothing about this issue...BUT going by what you quoted I would say you only pay when actually travelling However that seems to go against what others have said.

My van is Euro 5 but when i enter the reg no in the London & Bristol ULEZ sites it comes up as being exempt.

If we end up being within the ULEZ it will be 12.50 or £100 per day regardless. the charge is per day within the zone whether its parked for 12 months or used daily
Is that right????
If so and you end up in the zone and it’s a daily charge irrespective of usage, best I would have thought ,to sell, on cost grounds alone.
Only my opinion though, thanks.

Old thread, no mention of it being answered but Gail hasn't been on since Aug 14, 2020.

It always baffles me why anyone would want to go inside the M25 .
Bit harsh if that's where you happen to live.... But yes not for me either😎😎😎

Tourism in Kings Lynn is summed up in a paragraph about Kings Lynn
For London you get a link to a separate chapter
Source the trusty Wikiepdia

Haven't looked at other towns inside M25 neighbouring London. Hampton Court? Biggin Hill

Hey!!! I was born inside the M25 although that road was an after thought (and they waited until I moved away :P )

Hi Lenny we currently have a lunar roadstar 786. Excuse my ignorance but what is a DPF and any ideas where I could get one please. If it works happy to purchase :)
It wouldn't work as it would not make your engine/vehicle euro6 compliant. You could do it for altruistic reasons but I dont think DPFs work without the associated software and other bits and pieces on the engine anyway. Same with EGR

Tourism, you mean actual tourists go there. Haha

Working there to earn a good salary was my reason and living there to avoid a long commute. Then nearly all the Aviation Law firms were in the City.

Next question?

Hi Howard. Our van is also exempt on euro 5 according to the ULEZ website? The only charge would be the congestion zone for this vehicle, I just re checked it.
Phil

Right move seems to be earning well out of people wanting to get out of the inside ring of the M25. So I guess a lot think like that as well

I read that in 2020 about 700,000 people moved out of London. If you are working mainly from home, moving elsewhere makes a lot of sense. Duxette's bro is one of the WFH brigade who can work remotely from anywhere, moved house to East Sussex but still within commuting distance by train if required.

Everything is usually about the money

Phil
are both your vans 66 plates?i ask as my work van is exempt e5 on a 66 plate
same van on a 15 plate not exempt

Paddywack and those supporting your condasending comments should know it only takes the stroke of a pen from like minded people such as you to scrap your current pride and joy.
Not everyone can afford the latest Mo Ho .
I wish they could cos that would make yours worthless now.?

There are systems available that can turn Euro 2 to better than Euro 6

Thanks. I was about to ask the question, because we're in the process of buying a Euro 5 motorhome!

Probably not an option but if you get the mobility component of either Disability Living Allowance or Personal Independence Payments
Then you get Free VED and with that you get free access to LEZ and ULEZ as well as QEII Bridge and others

As an aside, the City of London is jammed full of tower blocks of offices [mainly finance industry] and these have air conditioning units by the shedload. These aircon units also spew out emissions, but there is no move to tax the Banks et al.

but the people with 5 year old cars they use daily are facing 12,50/day payments or having to change the car just for living there. & as I have posted before this was all brought about via a 'consultation' & ¡vote',using Transport for London registered users who in the main are pedestrians, cyclists etc; So we ended up with a vote affecting some 9million residents being voted on by approximately 38,000 registered TFL users. I think it was 52/48% for the creation of the new Ulez.
On the back of that 'win' Khan took it upon himself to use it as a mandate to increase the LEZ restrictions . disgusting situation using smoke & mirrors to get what they wanted when it should have been a vote for every registered person on the electoral list.
** You also have to wonder how many of those paltry 000's who voted do not actually live in London? I don't yet got a vote as a "foreced" registered Tfl user due to being a foreigner who has to register any vehicle they wish to use inside the TFL area. The registering of such which in itself is another extremely sore point & scam tfl invented to generate money ,unlike other countries were Everyone has to register to enter.

I think our campers been trashed is on disability as she always uses a buggy to get around at rallies, maybe that’s why she has not bothered pursuing the conversion to euro 6 she could be exempt.

Perhaps because it doubles, trebles my day rate. Just my opinion.
