I remember that last year at this time, there were lots of reports of Spain being overcrowded with motorhomes.

Is it still the same this year?

We're not heading out there until February, but I like to start my dreaming earlyšŸ–.

Would particularly like to know how things are in Aguilas šŸ˜.

We came last year, and here now, I would say it's busier. A lot of sites are full, last year we had few problems.

Calpe is quite busy.
Motorhomes parked up side streets.
Just been past Moraira carpark and there was at least 10 vans parked so the winter influx is in full swing.
Be interesting to see if local police start moving people on as in previous years šŸ˜¤

rico We're going to head to Moraira for a few nights - hopefully staying on friends'

Parking on the roadside is allowed as long as there is no camping activity. No chairs; tables; BBQs; etc
This also includes having side windows open.
It all depends on how the local police are feeling and the instructions from the council.
Last year and early this year they were doing the rounds on scooters early evening and moving people on even though the various sites were full.
Best of luck with your forthcoming trip.

So the police can act at the whim of the council, regardless of Statute Law and the Rule of Law?

What happens if all campsites are full? Can the police fine/arrest all motorhomers who are not actually moving?

Local police here are employed by the municipality so effectively council employee's.
They deal with all the mundane stuff like parking; school crossings; lucky lucky men; etc.
If you are parked with doors and windows closed then you can be inside and sleeping without issue.
How practical that is when it's 30 plus is definitely debatable.

Might cross paths next year we are heading down March 1st have a great trip we have a new rescue dog to get a passport foršŸ˜Š
Not sure whether we'll be going to el Rocio, but would love to see you and your new dogšŸ˜.
As you know, we rescued Gus from Spain, so he already had a Spanish passport, but it had been issued in southern Spain, so the rabies jab was only valid for 12 months. We went to Aliaga Vets, Moraira and had his booster, which is valid for 3 years. I can really recommend them. They have a lot of British clients and vets and receptionists all speak fluent English.šŸ‘

Hi bellabee thats good info we will give the vet a try as he will need a three year booster, hereā€™s a picture of our Charlie heā€™s a Patterdale.
I donā€™t know that we will be visiting El Rocio as it was not up to much this year and the birding not very good due to the water shortage.
hope we can meet up somewhere.šŸ¾šŸ¾šŸ¾
safe travels.

So glad weā€™ve already booked up for our 4 week trip to Spain this Christmas šŸ„³šŸ„³šŸ„³

Tourism in the region of Murcia is up by 13% so far this year....glad to say that those of us who live here are happy with our economic increase.
Great lengths to provide extra Camperstops are well underway...but like most projects, it takes time....and of course everyone wants a place with a sea view, which isn't going to happen..
Its quite apparent that the restricted visits by UK visitors is having no detrimental impact whatsoever....
Perhaps Brit bars may be fewer in the Brit magnet seaside resorts....but everything is Booming....and the Spain Full signs will be in place again soon at major border crossings..šŸ˜€šŸ‘šŸ‡ŖšŸ‡¦

We are going in January for 6 weeks back early March. Booked Bonterra for 8 nights in February so hopi g plenty of space for the rest of our stay. First time in winter for us.

Speve Charlie looks a characteršŸ˜€.
Aliaga vets are outside the town and have a large car park. You should have no problems with parking.
We're probably taking an inland route to Aguilas after Moraira. Hoping the French and Germans will have set off home for Easter by mid-March (as they had last year). After that, I'd like to go to Tarifa . It's all up for grabs, thoughšŸ˜!

jumar, I'm very much not in the 'They-need- us-more-than-we-need-them' camp - quite the opposite šŸ™‚.
I completely hear what you're sayingšŸ‘.
You are correct in saying the Northern Europeans leave around the mid to end of March...however we have noticed the winter season is starting earlier, and extending later...we travel every chance we have here in Spain....it becoming increasingly difficult to call how busy our chosen overnighters will be...a favourite of ours was full on our first night but only 4 vans the next.....official Camperstops that is..,,,šŸ‘šŸ‡ŖšŸ‡¦

Weā€™re going mid March with the intention of trying to do 7 weeks on one site! A first for us but we wanted to try it out.

Itā€™s a place we know well, full of overwinter vans every year, but the site owner told me not to book and mail him a week before and heā€™ll try to get a pitch we like for our arrival.

We had 10 days there last Easter whilst touring the coast and due to some medical issues we were pitch bound for 5 of those days so we thought we would give it a try next year. Day trips out in our smaller van is easy doable now, or hire a car. šŸ¤žšŸ» it all works out.

Calpe was full last week, we did 3 nights in Denia then came back for one night. Stayed in the car park near the Ifach hotel, dudntsee any cops patrolling. Also the looky looky men donā€™t seem to have lookouts anymore. šŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™‚ļø

We have a motorhome but also lucky enough to have a caravan on site in Benidorm. Itā€™s exceptionally busy this year coming and going. Our site had been full on many occasions this year. I think itā€™s full most of the winter . Motorhomes park down by the market but they do get moved on . They are getting stricter with motorhomes now

We are also in benidorm at camping Raco, last year when we arrived we were offered the choice of 60/70 pitches, this year there was very limited choice.(2/3) Far far busier this year than last.

Weā€™ve done the length of Spain from Roses down to Du Queseda and steadily working our way back up, mixture of sites and camper parks and so far no issues. Fuengirola and Benalmadena were pretty full but called both ways no probs.

Currently just pulled onto the marina at Almerima and iā€™d say itā€™s 30% occupied so plenty of room.

Villasol I booked 2 weeks starting 30 Nov and only booked it yesterday with once again no problems.

Just in Altea where the site is full, but places come available each day, the couple next door said Denia & Calpe are also very busy, Iā€™d recommend if moving around giving places a quick call to reserve a spot the day before or have 2ā€“3 site options on your map. Iā€™ve found youā€™ll always find a pitch given the amount of sites on the coast.

Hi Funsters!

Weā€™re trying to plan a New Year 4-6 week trip/tour of Southern Spain. Our Moby is 8.2mtr and most of the sites not full on Spain coast donā€™t take 8m+. Any tips other than get busy with the chainsaw?

Our only experience of this was in UK where we were passing a site with max of 7.5 who wouldnā€™t accept a phone booking. Pulled in and after grumbles we were too long put us on a pitch with plenty of room. What difference can a couple of feet make?

Any advice welcome, weā€™ve only found 2 sites so far after a couple of hours on the pc!

Weā€™re currently travelling around Southern Spain, our MoHo is 7.9mtrs, but 8.5mtrs with the bikes on and weā€™ve had no issues on sites. Youā€™ll find the majority of MoHos are from Northern Europe here in Spain, and are 90% 8Mtrs+ā€¦ Youā€™ll be fine
