As per the question, if we don’t intend to drive anywhere near Paris (ferry to Roscoff then down to the South through the centre of the country) do I need to apply for a Crit’Air sticker? Any advice from experienced funsters much appreciated.

France is such a big country you should never need to be in the cities. But for peace of mind and for what it costs why not have it.
Crit air zone has expanded and covers a lot more than cities and if you get the police man on the day expect to be led to the closest bank. Regards nick

Ordered and paid online and the sticker arrived a few days later. Excellent service with email notifications of success, despatch, etc..

Have just lost qn hour of my life trying to get a crit air for our present motorhome. Have done it for previous with no problems. At end of the registration it comes up with inclusion of retrofits with red exclamation.
The vehicle has no retrofits, have certificates of conformity for both Laika and Fiat but cant get beyond the first page, frustrated is not the word.
now to try to get the de for Germany 😂😱
You only have to fill in the sections with the red asterisks and press the upload documents button. It will then go to the next page.

Yes did that and the warning box came up and it wouldn’t move on. Tried several times not helped by not knowing the class to put in no emissions on V5 it was so easy on my 4 tonner

I have checked my V5C, no Exhaust Emission details. Last MOT, no exhaust emission details. MoHo is Rapido 924F first registered 20/01/2006. I can't find a way to provide the required information to get a Crit' Air. We are starting our trip in the UK this Monday and crossing to France on 4th July. Any ideas please??

There’s an app called “Green- Zones EU” into which you enter your vehicle details. It then tells you which towns you can and cannot visit.

I think they use the scan of the V5C and give you the right sticker after they see it. I scanned mine as some of the points they want aren't on a UK V5. I scanned as a PDF rather than JPG.

Rouen joins the system in September and it looks from the area that it covers a fair area for anyone taking the non-toll route through.

Having read this whole thread I suddenly realised I don't have the Crit Air for our current van. Thought it would be easy since I'd had one on the last van..... First site I tried wanted £20, second wanted £49 !!! Finally found the official site and started the process. First problem - what class is a moho ? Private car or Light commercial ? Put in light commercial just to see how far I could get. Second problem, the dreaded uploading of the Reg doc. Decided to have a cuppa and wait for Number One daughter/computer whiz. Not intending to go through any of the cities mentioned apart from the Periferique in Paris so hopefully will be OK...

Motorhome is category M1 because it is 'passenger carrying' not N1 'goods carrying', so 'Private car', which is also M1, is the appropriate one.

Mine was accepted like that.

That's a relief. Thankyou. Shopping with daughter at the mo but she'll do the thing for me when we finish.

After a lot of being chucked out, resizing photo and going back in my daughter finally got to the payment stage, only to be chucked out again. Not one to give up easily she went back to the start and Eureka !! Now expecting a (probably totally unnecessary) Crit Air sticker shortly. Thanks for all the helpful hints and tips on Fun. Never lets you down !

Several posters have mentioned posting a photo.

Is that of the MH or just of the documents?

I did my Crit'Air a few months ago but do not remember having to send a photo of the MH

I couldn’t find any info to suggest my 2016 FIAT was euro 6 as it doesn’t have adblu, so I selected next category down but the form auto corrected, stating based on the model year info I had provided that it was euro 6. I’m sure it’s not but if they think it is who’s to argue!

Agree also just requested and paid for it, super fast web site once I got the UK translation page up, e-mails received within seconds of payment receipt etc.

Thanks for all the replies. I managed to complete the order having noticed that if you don’t have a classification on the V5 that you can select a default that tells you the classification and allows completion.

The only problem is that the sticker didn’t arrive before we left on our hols. Hopefully the email proof of purchase will avoid a fine, if we enter a crit air !

It clearly states on the email confirmation that that is proof of ownership of a Crit Air cert. When you get the next email you can download a copy of the certificate which also confirms you are legally covered.

that's a relief as I may be in the same boat when leaving home at the start of September. Collecting van next month but also up plating it. So thinking that will need to get the V5 in my name first then submit the info for up plating. Timeframe may be a little close to also then get a Crit air cert for the van.

Have you thought of applying for the Crit'Air before up plating ;)

It’s an excuse to have all your details on their database, did anyone get a speeding ticket when flashed by a camera before crit air? No, well you will when you get one so mind your speed folks!

The Euro 6 rules specify the required emissions and don't mandate specific technologies, such as AdBlue. There are many Euro 6 vehicles that don't require it.

By 2016, it was illegal to sell a new Euro 5 vehicle, although it is possible that an old Euro 5 base vehicle has sat around waiting to be converted. In general, governments will see a 2016 new registration and just assume it is Euro 6.
