Hooooooowwwwwww much!!!!!!!

Brake fluid change after 2 years
Brake fluid absorbs water out of the air and hence is recommended for a 2 year change, check your car service details and it'll be the same. Only way to avoid it is to have the oil tested to ensure that the water level is acceptable, which should be done every year until the oil is changed.

Very true. A tester costs peanuts and is a worthwhile investment. It's a simple resistance measurement device.

I thought the brake fluid change was done on this service, I asked, they said no.…..main Fiat Professional Dealer. 🤷‍♂️

We used the SES Water depot in Redhill. Great service and fair prices

The stuff in the pipes isn't exposed to air so just changing the reservoir fluid is of limited benefit. If they were going to fully change all the fluid it would cost a lot more at the service.

Diablo:

Still chasing Wents for a current price (less than 3 miles away) and just been informed that there is already a three week wait! Totally inconvenient as it will be in use during that time.

So rang Burgess at 4:55pm expecting them not to pick up (5 minutes before closing) and spoke with Rachel, who was concise and VERY knowledgeable from the start. She required minimal info (unlike some of the other garages) and booked me in for next week, complete with courtesy car.

A bit further than I wished to travel (Sutton Valence, south of Maidstone) but well worth it for the knowledge and customer service.

So thanks Diablo.

Our brake fluid wasn’t changed until year 5, tested each time when serviced by the FP garage.

Hi, one year old (nearly) Dethleffs Trend 6557 DBM - thought I would book in hab check in view of warranty. Was quoted £260 + vat and a further £150 for an undercarriage spray (motorhome not me). They said as its the 1st year, Dethleffs give 6 months relaxation on the hab check but the spraying had to be done now.
Prices seemed a bit hefty - what do people think and where is recommended (I'm in Southampton. Does the habcheck have to be done by a dealer?
Thanks

All about covering costs these days for many of us in business. That and liabilities.

One of my jobs is maintaining million pound printer cooling systems. . I did a job for one company at £8,000, saving the company a further £8,000 on the authorised agents £16,000 price for the same job

When the company was taken over, they refused to pay my charges. Stating “ you are only down the road”. So when they were shocked by the sole UK Agents price for coming from London. They came back to me cap in hand. I told them I was too busy and they suffered the London agents costs.

Another small job on other cooling systems, I quoted £75 + VAT inspection charge . Including travel, and unlimited time, fixed price. They said I was too expensive, so called the main agent, again from London . The agent charged them £250+VAT initial visit including 30 mins time on the job. But, £6, yes SIX POUNDS per minute plus VAT.
They think they can bully the small traders etc.
Just chased up an invoice which is overdue to be told I’m on 60 days end of month. Told them not my terms and next time they want me it’s payment up front or go somewhere else.
The companies that accept their terms generally charge 4 times I do.
All false economy.

That has to be a con, not even one year old £150 undercarriage spray, no way.

I had experience of Burgess when my MH was under warranty. The generic warning light yellow triangle kept coming on, oil level sensor switch. After several attempts to update the software it was still the same. To replace it requires engine removal! Also had trouble with the tag axle handbrakes squeaking . After three attempts to adjust the brakes it still persisted. So in their wisdom they wound off the front tag axle brakes so much it had no braking effect whatsoever. I only found this out with a brake test!!!!!!
After writing to Fiat Customer Services re the pressure switch they agreed to replace the switch FOC This was done by Northern Commercials at Hildenborough Iveco Main Dealer. Excellent service.
I Had asked Haynes re replacing the sensor basically they did not want to know, bearing in mind it has to be said that Main Dealers do have book times to work to with their repairs.
So that’s my thoughts on main dealers!

Recent experience has shown me nothing to do with mileage. How old is the vehicle

Its just coming up to 1 year old and so I need to preserve the warranty - good news is that someone pointed me in the direction of the Dethleff Owners Club UK which for a membership fee of £15 offers a deal for both the hab check and underseal spray for £299 inc vat - odd that one of the approved firms was the one who quoted me £400- £500 earlier today.......... Best £15 I've spent since joining MHF!

……but also because it seems to me that they haven’t got a clue.
Not sure about that. Looks like they’ve quoted per the book for a 2-year service if mileage (20K?) not reached. Oil and filter, air filter, pollen filter, diesel filter. Brake fluid every 2 years regardless.
