Here's the Morelo Grand Empire

I don't understand that lot but I like the look of it Martin.

Here's a pic of one of the three electrical cupboards in the boat we looked at the other day.

Anyone know where the wires go because I've not got a bloody clue.

You might have more chance of getting a wiring diagram for the boat han the MORELO though ;)

Ah, but Martin I wouldn't need a diagram as I have the mobile telephone number for a 'Funflair'.

I actually said this to Nicky on the boat the other day "we don't need to worry about that wiring crap, I'll just invite Martin over for a bottle of red and he'll soon have it sorted".(y)

If only, I wish I was half a good as you suggest.

There’s a serious class system within Morelo owner society

Empire owners loom down on Palace owners and Home owners look up to them both

Yep, that was most evident on the German Morelo forum. The Empire or Palace owners will comment to their hearts delight on the forum whereas the Home and Loft owners simply read the conversations why quietly muttering "we are not worthy".

But they have all been trumped by the Grand Empire though.

Typical of much of German society. People at a specific management level in a company are expected to own a car which reflexs that level. Not above their station or below it - only what is deemed appropriate for their pay grade. :)

Hate to rain on the German/Euro Parade. But you would likely get 90% of that in an American Coach for less than half the price?. The Bottom line? "is it value for money"?

Agreed on the price but having been in a few yanks ( not all - granted) over the years, they still dont have the class and feel of a top class german mh and they re not as well suited to Europe.

I would be very happy with a cummins engined pusher, but then I need somewhere to put motorcycle or scooter, I'm probably not going to like the decor and the fittings and there are limited options for a smaller one.

Some of the "High End" US coaches, many used by "stars" and "celebs, for example, have to be seen to be believed. And there is no doubt that a pusher configuration is a more pleasant drive, (i`ve had both). With many of the largest topping out at under 750K dollars and as much "bling" as the Morello. I`m not particulary knocking the German "product" just questioning the value for money. In fact I could go for most stuff on Mercedes Underpinnings. But I draw the line at Iveco!. Having driven both their Truck Product!!.

My solution for extra vehicles has always been Trailer or "A" frame anyway. Garages put the "mass" over the rear behind the wheels, and more important (for us) make any beds in that area a mountain climb to access, steps at night are a disaster waiting to happen. As Usual though we agree its "horses for courses".

It makes me wonder why the American stuff hasn't caught on in Europe, yes quite possibly they are great value and useable back in their home country but just don't work for touring in Europe, as Jon says the lack of garage space is a killer for me and I am not going to start towing again to get over the inadequacy of the vehicle, as for it making a high bed I don't really think that is the case once the MH is built on top of the chassis with a large underfloor for tanks etc above that it only need a moderate step to get into bed and there is still loads of headroom in bed.

I would like to have a look in a nice RV though ;)

Is it value for money? no not really but when did that stop people having what they wanted.

I get all these folk sqeeasing Into those small boxes when you can Spreeeeeeeeead out so much more in a BIG box :LOL:

Ja das ist Wunderschon! Und der is einer Garage mit room fur der Panzer!

Poland, watch out ...

That was no issue for me, But once I hit 70, keeping the HGV was an annual expense that could not longer be justified. In fact I let it go at 66. The benefit of Having an R-V in America, WAS the fact that I could still drive it on my UK licence, ( I do have a Texas Licence, but that really just to reduce my insurance) despite being well over 70. So now like many other fit and healthy UK drivers, I am reduced to under 3.t. And even to keep my C1, have an (unnecessary) medical every 3 or so years!.

I am similar and any number on here are going through this process so understand you’re position but,l bet you don’t admonish Funsters that have large MH’s

Very impressive
I feel that they get their fit out ideas from boats but seem to be nearly twice the price.

What’s wrong with a good old tent ?
No depreciation, easy on storage.
I will ask that question to the couple who turned up on a very wet CL in West Wales last night and pitched a small pup tent. Mind you, you couldn’t even get down the lane in Morellos or similar.
Phil

I'd rather spent 100,000 euros on a smaller, lighter, still luxurious motorhome and have 500,000 to spend touring full time to see my days out! (and i'm not that old)

I loved our Yankee. It had 4 slide outs, ceramic tiled and carpet flooring. Solid Oak furniture, it was 2008 build and had sophisticated electrics with digital load shedding, real AC, squashy seating. But it was American luxury and that is different to European. Its like the difference of a Jaguar or Bentley compared to Mercedes or BMW (not comparing either to an RV just the principle of the difference). Yankees are normally max width of 2.6m and invariably longer so the internal space is greater. The Grand Empire is nice looking but just too big for adventurous touring, as would be the other long models, if you go to limited sites then they maybe for you.
But in my opinion you get more for your money with a Yankee.
