Anyone making there way to Hereford, the M42 is still closed after yesterdays lorry fire. I sat in it for 5 hours on the hottest day of the year, emergency services not good at all. Road across all lanes as been destroyed and today they are repairing/resurfacing it. Avoid the area.

Just to clarify, the closed section is the M42 from the A5 near Birchmoor southbound to the Cudworth junction.

I have already got one with a square top, works well so far and for someone 18st+, I'm well impressed! 🤔 👍

PS. There was a choice of two kinds when I bought at the Country & Western Warners show last year, I bought the heavy duty one! 😄

On the way to Hereford I acquired an old sewing machine (don't ask) it doesn't work, but if anyone wants to have a fettle at it and tell me how it could be fixed, I would be very grateful. It would earn you a beer Babs.

Poor bloke hadn't finished putting up his new fire equipment store before a graffiti sticker stickerer arrived. You can't take these marshalls anywhere ::bigsmile:

Lots now
Currently sat in The county hospital after a wound on phils finger is looking decidedly dodgy.
This was after checking with boots pharmacy who recommended dial 111.
After a discussion on the phone they advised to go to A&E.
He's inside awaiting attention after been moved to small injuries dept.
I'm sat in the cafe, so tempted to relocate to the local spoons but I'm not so sure he would appreciate that 😅

He won't be with you, he can take you to somewhere more expensive later! 😄

Hope Phil's finger soon gets better! 🤞

Oh dear. If you can't get to spoons do you want a delivery in a plain brown paper bag of course 😉
Hope it's sorted soon

Well phil insisted I go to spoons.
He was next inline to be seen then all 3 staff had to attend to a guy in handcuffs escorted by 2 police officers.
Oh well best get another pint in.

Well what a time we’ve had!

Went to the Cathedral and saw a first edition of Samuel Johnson’s Dictionary of the English Language:

IMG_0842.jpeg

It took him and 6 assistants 9 years (he’d only quoted for 3 🙄) to compile a dictionary. There was a French dictionary written earlier, but that took 40 scholars 40 years to do

I particularly liked the definition of a Statesman:
IMG_0841.jpeg

Not so much the Stateswoman though …
IMG_0840.jpeg

Oats - look away now if you’re Scottish!
IMG_0839.jpeg

Warmingstone - Go to Cornwall if you have internal haemorrhoids!

IMG_0843.jpeg

I loved the quotation for Honeymoon:
IMG_0847.jpeg

Absolutely loved it. The chief librarian (Jennifer Dumbelton - what a name for a librarian!) was from Missouri, and clearly loved her job!

Is it only me who sees Johnson's face picture 5? 😱
