Guess where we're going?šŸ€

Operation Shenanigan phase 1 complete as we have both managed to make it to our overnight stop on the way to the ferry.

A rugby club car park at the end of the M4 motorway.

We do go off grid thanks.
Just come back from our first time in Ireland. Ring of Kerry on 2 wheels is a must. Go to Dingle and visit Dick Macks a very old traditional pub opposite the church. You will be one of the many stars who have been, Robert Mitcham, Julia Roberts, Dolly Parton, etc. Boasts 250 types of whiskey, Guinness is fantastic and has a leather belt maker in the bar. Inch beach is also very beautiful. Not many pubs serve food and no dogs allowed in pubs or on a bus. Food and drink is expensive but you will have a great time and have stories to tell.

We had an Irish trip planned, ferry booked, and then it was all scuppered by Covid. I don't expect we'll plan it again now, so I'll be living your trip in your photos.

You will keep the thread running, won't you? šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

Have a great time xx

Just 36k further along the coast and we find ourselves at a lovely campsite, Bannock Bay Farm, ith sea views and walking distance to 4 beaches. Straight after lunch the boys went out on the bikes and Carolyn and I donned our swimming stuff and went in search of a dip.

A bay to ourselves and still calm water was just what we were looking for.

A beautiful evening here at Bannow Bay

We demoed the quest setting up for interested campers earlier ::bigsmile:

Surprised to see it so busy here but apparently itā€™s a bank holiday weekend

Lovely photos - have you tried the black stuff yet? It was too creamy for me - but everyone else loved it!

Colin looks perfectly at home!

Donā€™t forget - if anyone says ā€˜Top of the morning to youā€™, you reply ā€˜and the rest of the day to yourself!

Have a lovely time. When we took the boat over in 2003, we took a ā€˜pop upā€™ to shelter from the rain, but used it for the whole two weeks to shade from the sun!

Fantastic!! Make the absolute most of the exam weather!

Knowing now that you are heading round the top and down to your ferry, I also recommend Glenarm Forest, north of Larne - I had never been and when I visited I thought it was spectacular.

The Giants Causeway experience has been partially destroyed by the addition of all its 'visitor centre' features and madding crowds - go after hours and it'll be much more interesting. I can understand why they want to make some money from it but it's changed from something magical into an overcrowded, something profitable and it's a real shame.

I have never visited the extinct volcanoes at Cushendall and Cushendun but have heard reports that they are a good visit - maybe you could let us know?!

We were told the same in 2003 - they hadnā€™t had two weeks of such glorious weather for 25 years!

Where are you headed?

While the Jenbens were swimming, we, the Armytwowheelses went for a run along the cliff path and beach. Very lovely it was too.

Today has been a lazy day other than the mornings flurry of activity, with the watching the GP Cal snoozing and me reading.

Now Carolyn is cooking Fajitas for us all. Colin and I have provided the shade.

The Armytwowheelses and the Jenbens do Ireland.
Goodness knows what adventures we will have. All I can say is that this holiday is sorely needed, and I cannot wait to get away.

It all starts tomorrow when we drive through Welsh Wales to Carmarthen for an overnight stay, then onto Fishguard for a lunchtime sailing.

The loose idea is to follow the Wild Atlantic Way, but who knows!

Pity we are in Germany.
Carmarthen - my home town.
Where did you stay prior to catching the Ferry

Have a great time. We loved our 3 week trip to Ireland in June two years ago. Tempted to go again but this time go to the North West.
Loved the friendliness and laid back feeling. Great views almost everywhere. Do post if you get the chance.

There are 3 different beaches to swim at all within walking distance of Bannow bay.

Sandra and I decided to swim at them all today , beach hop underway.

The weather is still lovely our swim kit is minimal and the first beach was the furthest walk

We walked around to the second bay 5263D5C2-4FD7-4575-8A8D-5DB5FFA88725.jpeg

There is hardly anyone around despite the sunny bank holiday weather

That's all we've heard all weekend, how good the weather is. When I said we're of home they all said to leave the WEATHER.

If you go to the Causeway, donā€™t go through the visitor centre where you are charged but take the path at the side as the causeway is actually free to clamber about.
