The Armytwowheelses and the Jenbens do Ireland.
Goodness knows what adventures we will have. All I can say is that this holiday is sorely needed, and I cannot wait to get away.

It all starts tomorrow when we drive through Welsh Wales to Carmarthen for an overnight stay, then onto Fishguard for a lunchtime sailing.

The loose idea is to follow the Wild Atlantic Way, but who knows!

The weather looks fantastic, Im very jealous as next week is my usual week where we have annual leave and go home to Ireland, but this year my parents are actually coming to see us and my brothers elsewhere in the UK and doing their own tour.

Safe travels & have a fab time & pics are always appreciated.

We've got friends who are thinking of touring Ireland so any info about costs would be interesting (if you don't mind sharing that is)

Have a good trip, June weather should be good - hopefully! We gave serious thought to visiting Ireland in September but have taken the easier option of France instead. :) Warmer weather and cheaper booxe were deciding factors.

I believe we will see you "Under the Smoke". Looking forward to it. Don't forget your swimming kit!

Off ferry, drive to Donegal, follow coast, brill, have fun, Busman Dave and Maggie have just done a tour, probably the most up to date (y)

Don’t forget to report back about the tearooms.

It might make a difference as to whether old people follow your steps (y)

Have a great time.
Well of course I will be doing a tea room and cake update as we travel as I know this is the bit in my posts that you love the most ::bigsmile:

3a’s at Carmarthen have an Aire with electric and water, I was there just under two weeks ago picking up this pile of crap. 😜

Their tour was the deciding factor in our decision to go there. Following in their wheel tracks.

We are starting down South and working our way North.

Oh dear. I take it the new van is not living up to expectations.

If you are into surfing, try Easkey, not for amateurs or the faint hearted though, You used to be able to park (overnight) overlooking some of the most fantastic waves I’ve ever seen.

Easkey, County Sligo, NW

Located in the mid-northwest of the country on the bottom dip of the Donegal Bay is Ireland's most raved-about surf spot.

There are actually two breaks here; a left and a right, but the left is a consistent, tasty reef peeler that peaks standardly at about 10-15 feet and really pumps when good swells roll in.

The right reef can occasionally produce perfect monster surf.

So is more legendary, but the conditions needed are rare, and the finicky waves more typically found here can be frustrating when you know what Easkey is capable of.

Rocky bottom. It can be crowded. McGowan's pub in the village is the go-to spot for warming up after a session.

Have fun (y)

Have a great time and don’t miss the opportunity to kiss the blarney stone.👍

Depends where you're starting from. If up north and you like the beach and swooping views, I recommend Portsalon on the Fanad peninsula. The beach beside the pier is lovely and the long beach is 3km of unspoilt sand - tho the water of Lough Swilly will be - to quote an Irishism - feckin freezin at any time of the year.

Achill Island is windswept and remote - mind your van on some of the small roads - but absolutely, wildly, remotely beautiful.

Sligo is suitably urbane and will have some interesting things to see as well as all the amenities.

Galway is of course worth a look but is very touristy and a bit 'diddly-dee'. It'll be expensive to socialise but will have all the usual amenities.

You'll meander down the coast road and it'll be one 'ohh-ahh' after another. The cliffs of Moher are a frequent stop for tourists coming to Co.Clare. I'm not going to say 'don't' but if it's very busy with other tourists, it becomes a compromised experience!

I do recommend Dingle (or An Dangeain), which is like a more persuasive version of Galway. I also recommend a trip to Dunquin and the Blasket Islands - the most westerly point of Europe apparently - you can't bring the van unless it's an aquatic vehicle, but you can park not far away. It's an insight into another world of thinking.

Good luck and keep us informed - may the sun shine warm upon your faces!

Thank you for all the info, much appreciated and noted. I have been to Galway before and yes it was expensive. We are starting in the South and have a month to work our way up to Donegal to see friends, then round to Larne for the crossing home.

Dunno if you do off grid at all, but can recommend Benone Strand north of Derry.
