Guess where we are.

When we were there at the end of August my son woke me up at 2am because he heard noises coming from the gate to the boats...a large group were dropped off in two cars but they gave up when they couldn't get through. Still felt safe enough in our motorhome.
The police are round regular, and we have seen groups of black, can I say that, guys but never seen any trouble between them or anyone else, to be honest I thought they were work gangs waiting to be picked up for work.

For anyone who might be interested this is the route of our first week just because it's places we want to see after that we have no idea.

Many years ago I had to 'sign on' and it was common to see groups of blokes of all colours gathered outside the Jobcentre waiting for a contractor's minibus to take them to a site for cash-in-hand daywork.

How long are you away for? That's quite a journey.
Month.
That's only the first week, don't like staying in one place too long.
Gravelines tonight. Honfluer tomorrow night , javron the next, montendre for a couple, round into Spain .
That's just the first week out of four if all goes well.

You just can't beat Gravelines for a quick stop on the way over..love it
.
We did have a load of migrants last time waiting for a pick up, but no trouble. And we're gone before midnight

Welcome to wet France, the weather looks as if it could be unsettled for the next couple off weeks. I can't see anywhere to go which looks as if it might stay dry. But south will be warmer so we are working our way in that direction. :)

Yeah we are heading south pretty quick mate, might see you sometime. (y)
Actually I don't mind rain , in fact love it at night on the roof.

God it better be improved next week as we arrive in Holland on 12th for 4 weeks.

Had planned on Germany. But we are in dire need of some sunshine. So may end up in Spain 😳😳

Windy, but warm in Ile de Re today. Rammed full though, we eventually got in a small Aire, last spot, 100yds to the beach. Going forwards looking at weather maps it needs to be south, but then there's the much longer return leg🤔
Mike.

In baker street tonight, had one of the best meals I have ever had.

This was the Welsh chicken, man it was good.

'Baker street'......'Welsh chicken'....? Is that some sort of 'In' joke?
Aren't you in France, overnighting on the aire at Chaserlines (or whatever it's called) ?

hi Charlie
zI was told last week that Gravlines was a definite nono due the police and immigrants fighting so we bypassed it 😟

This Grand fort Philip the other side of the river to Gravelines, last October we saw large groups being escorted by the police but didn’t see any violence and saw no migrants in June this year but may rethink our last stop next time.

Santilana del Mar is lovely and a bit of a foodie destination. There is a camper stop on the edge of town which is quite good.
Yeah I saw it on one of the YouTube things, looks good.
The other places we have been before and just going back to have a look.
I once nearly bought a house in javron for £13 000 and 4 years later it still hadn't been sold that was 5 years ago and just wondering if it's still on sale.
Broken down old place at the back of the church.

Most of western Europe seems to have very unsettled weather at the moment.
I'm near Lucerne and thunderstorms are frequently on the forecast.
They've not been too severe so far thankfully.
Dolomites look particularly wet

Genuinely if we see any trouble I will post it on here.
But up to yet nothing out of the ordinary.
We were there 6 weeks or so ago and there was an obvious high visible patrolling going on as 3 of the gendarmes walked right out to the end of the canal for a spot of lunch.
What we saw wouldn't worry us about stopping overnight

It's a bit grey here this morning but not raining although it did in the night.
A few more vans have arrived in the night, but still nowhere near full.
I know I'm the daft bugger on here but I don't know why this place isn't rammed all the time, apart from the sun it's got all you need in a french village.
