Just to update my experiences. The 3 Sim was working OK in my Teltonika RUT950 albeit with a slower data rate than my Iphone with Vodafone sim. However in the last few days it has stopped working altogether. It can see the 3 signal, but does not appear to be working and wont transfer any data whatsoever. I did try it in my Iphone with the same result.
I have messged the seller on Ebay and await his response.
Ah, just realised it is a phone only sim. If you put it in a data only device it is unlikely to continue to work I suspect. So I couldn't get this and just pop it in my router I don't think.
It makes more sense in that case. I withdraw my concerns
I'm gonna be having a shuftie for one for myself so I'll let you know if I find anything.I am tempted to get the Vodafone sim card, to replace the one coming up for expiry on June 12th. I would be using it in the MiFi.
Minxy. Is there currently anything better with Vodafone please Mel?
Cheers
Jock.
Thanks Mel. Much appreciated.I'm gonna be having a shuftie for one for myself so I'll let you know if I find anything.
I have used those 3 x sims in the past, but often the signal especially through France to Spain was iffy at times, whereas the Vodafone signal appeared to be faultless.I use a 3 , 24 gb in my mifi find good
£35 from Amazon currently
Its a data only Sim, not sure why it wont work in a Mifi. Doesnt work in the phone either. Doesnt mention phone only sim as far as I can see.Ahh, this sim is probably designed for phones only. If you start using it in a data only device it is quite possible that 3 will limit or even prevent the operation of it on data only devices.
Does the data side still work if you put it in your phone?
I did mention this quite a while ago on this thread.
Either we are talking about a different sim to the one Minxy linked in the OP. Or you are mistaken about which sim you have???Its a data only Sim, not sure why it wont work in a Mifi. Doesnt work in the phone either. Doesnt mention phone only sim as far as I can see.
I bought from the link, but mine states data on for any 3g, 4g, 5g device- not specific to phones.Either we are talking about a different sim to the one Minxy linked in the OP. Or you are mistaken about which sim you have???

I've had a good nosy around and there are quite a few Vodafone sims but of course they have the issue regarding roaming now at £2 a day so really only any point in having one of those if you buy another sim for foreign use. Other mainstream providers are expensive on the whole for what you get, even via resellers. Thanks Mel. Much appreciated.
If you look at the link you will see it lists minutes and texts. If it says this it is a phone sim and 3 may put restrictions on it if it is used in an internet only device.I bought from the link, but mine states data on for any 3g, 4g, 5g device- not specific to phones.
WOW Mel what a comprehensive and detailed reply. Thanks.I've had a good nosy around and there are quite a few Vodafone sims but of course they have the issue regarding roaming now at £2 a day so really only any point in having one of those if you buy another sim for foreign use. So far the top spot is ID mobile who despite being on Three's network don't appear to have issues with roaming other than a limit on what data you can use which is dependent on the monthly contract fee, eg £15 pcm contract you can use 11.58 gb pcm, £12 it's 9.26gb.
I've looked via the various resellers, comparison sites etc and by going via Topcashback to Mobiles.co.uk you 'might' get £10 cashback as they don't exclude ID mobile contracts specifically (Quidco do). There there's a choice of 100gb for £9 pcm (£15 before cashback by redemption) or £50gb for £7.50 pcm (£12 before cashback by redemption). Both allow roaming at 11.58gb and 9.26gb pcm respectively however one benefit is that you can roll over your unused data to the following month which could be useful for say around Christmastime when you want to hammer the internet so can use your remaining November data.

I've just been working out how much data/calls/texts I need and during the last 12 months I've only gone over 50gb twice, once in April 2021 when I was doing a load of downloading and updating the software etc on my laptop and used 74gb, the other time was February 2022 when I used 55gb updating sat nav, maps etc ready for the holiday so loads of downloading software and other stuff. I'm therefore questioning whether I need 100gb or not which is my current contract - my average is 32gb pcm so I'm not a massive user and I only did 175 texts and used 6005 minutes for calls and some of those were 3+ hour ones to my sister which I don't/won't be doing now.
The only concern is that ID, being on Three, may not be as fast as Vodafone, it wasn't when I changed 2 years ago but they have updated a load of their transmitters etc now so could be better, not sure about abroad though but we don't do streaming etc so should be okay.
The Sim I clicked on following Minxys link is for a data only.If you look at the link you will see it lists minutes and texts. If it says this it is a phone sim and 3 may put restrictions on it if it is used in an internet only device.
I heard about it a long time on this very forum.
The fact that a phone sim is cheaper than a broadband sim seems to indicate this may still be the case. You can get more data for less money on a phone sim because when used in a phone you are less likely to use massive amounts of data.
That all said. I have no proof of this and don't have time to trawl through all the terms and conditions so I may well be wrong.
What for the one he didn't supply?Update- The seller has now offered up a replacement Sim.
Here vodaphone supply 2 different sims depending on whether used in a mifi/router or a phone . The phone one won't work in a router. whereas Yoigo, who I am now with, allows use of there phone sim in anythingI am tempted to get the Vodafone sim card, to replace the one coming up for expiry on June 12th. I would be using it in the MiFi.
