Globecar Modifications

Just found the web site,
. I did speak to a guy on the phone but my German was no better than his English.

I've altered the drain from our waste tank from the middle of the van to the side, I can drain into a bucket or out the side into a ditch with flexible hose.
I used some old pipe and fittings that I had in my garage and the centre piece of pipe is just used as a support, I will have to make something more permanent in the future.

Good idea that John, how is the supporting centre piece attached though?

Ive shaped a section of pipe and sikaflexed it to the drain pipe then double zipp tied to chassis, I will see how it goes and if need be I will get a threaded stud and clamp to replace the section.

Today I've rewired my reversing camera through a switch so that the camera image is on whilst driving.
I now have rear view when driving, which dealer said couldn't be done with the Blaupunkt New York media system.

Do all globecars have the waste water outlet in the middle of the van? Is it easy to get a bucket under or do you have to lay down flat! It is one thing I did not check when looked at the Roadscout I ordered :-(

Not sure why you would want to do any of those things ;) Most places I have stayed have either a drive over waste point or a drain that runs the water towards. You just stop in the right place and turn the valve a quarter turn (once you've found where you put the key for 'safe keeping') :)

I stay at mostly certified sits that don't have such luxuries :) I usually empty using a bucket and place the waste in the hedge.

Mine doesn't, it is a 2012 Globestar, unusual layout not sure whether the waste water outlet at the side is unusual though.

You could always use a road drain, or a lay by :cautious: It's only dish/shower water anyway

Not sure where you think it goes from the drain at the CL ... ;)

I think it would be the reaction of Joe Public to seeing a motorhome 'dumping' at the side of the road that would be adverse.

True but it's 100% better than 'dribbling' straight onto the road . However, as we strayed MILES off topic I suggest someone starts a new thread if they want to discuss the rights and wrongs of draining grey waste ;) (y)

Congratulations @Neckender ... it's a boy!!!! :D

New van full of ideas mainly from Possl.DE. Here's a few of mine,

Hopefully solar and a rear camera if I can work out the connection the the factory cable next.

Just bought my Globe car could you tell me where you bought your washing up bowl and do you know where I can buy a cutlery draw please.

Having just bought our globecar I am concerned about damaging the concertina blinds in the sleeping area, the previous owner made acrylic panels Velcro on the frame but this would make it difficult to operate the blinds so have any of you solved this problem and how did you do it?
I quite liked the bars idea but as I want to mount them in front of the blinds rather than behind this idea won't work for me.

I have perspex covers on velcro but they do need moving to operate the blinds

@normanandsue I have the same bowl bought from Aldi when the they were selling camping gear.
It's a collapsible one and just needed to file the edges of the base and it fits the sink perfect.

There's no reason you can't use a similar airer thing to put the bars on the outside of the blinds - this is a previous thread about what I did for the window at the end of our fixed bed:

https://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/forum/threads/window-bars-grid-at-end-of-bed.137760/

You can get airers in various sizes so should be able to find something more suitable to fit than the one I used which was a temporary measure until I got round to cutting it down to size (still haven't done it yet! ). I'm thinking more of the larger over-bath ones or a floor standing type airer:

Rather than use one piece you could use 2 with a gap in the middle to allow you to still be able to open/closed the blinds.

Thinking on from this you could also use 2 grids with the gap in the middle, or even 2 cargo nets like these so long as you didn't put whatever you hooked them over under to much tension ... might be worth a try for the price and if not you can surely make good use of them in your MH anyway!

Mrs G has made new curtains for the rear of our Campscout Revolution out of shower curtain material.
We don't normally draw them but after packing the bikes back into the van in a rainstorm in Germany we decided they would be handy to keep rain off the bed if we need the rear doors open when its persisting down

Another bonus is that on a nice day if you have the back doors open facing the sun you can fasten them across the top of the doors to give some shade so you don't cook whilst slobbing on the bed!

Today I’ve removed the main light from our Globecar because it was not bright enough, and I replaced it with a more modern light with 4 different settings.
I’m also going to fit one which is half the size over the cab and bedroom area’s. When completed I’ll post the rest of the pictures.
John.
