Glastonbury

My loathsome ex son-in law used to volunteer as this gave him a free entry. Happily, a couple of years ago, and this proves the existence of a divine retribution, they gave him the task of cleaning the latrines.

Been watching it on tv, last night looked brilliant, I’ve done a few festivals but never glasto and the sunshine really makes it special. You lucky bunch

We’re gonna be festival’ed out, Kendal calling in 4 weeks, at least it’s just an hrs drive, and Esk fest, 5 minutes from our house, let’s hope the sun shines like it has here?

I know someone who got free entry & paid work one year and ended up working on one of the tractors & vacuum tankers that goes round to empty the loos. Not a job I think anyone would relish, but he enjoyed it.

His team called themselves the "Not-So-Solid-Crew", and spay painted that on the wheelguards of the tanker :D

(Just for the benefit of anyone who's consciously avoided the last 20 odd years of popular music - So Solid Crew were a band. Well, sort of. They made a noise anyway. Not my thing!)

Heading in now for a bit of Hackney colliery band, ? and sun still shining ?then we can’t decide on the Cure or Christine And the Queens

Still no advice on best route out ?

Just watching Kylie on the tv from Glastonbury.

Whoever the sound engineer is should have paid a visit to the ENT dept to have his/her ears syringed.
Ohh dear it really is painful

We just had exactly that convo, wish my ears were drunk ?

Thanks, I’ll have another drink if it’s a later drive, ? We watched Kylie didn’t sound to bad from where we were, maybe the better sound in the telly , although I’m no sound engineer.?

Sounded not too bad but beer goggles on and I'm assuming the hearing equivalent

Watched The Cure on BBC2, then straight over to BBC4 to watch Cristine & The Queens.
The Cure were great, Christine I have seen and enjoyed before like tracks Tilted, & 5 Dollar, also thought her dance moves were very strange but different in the past, but tonight having watched her I think she is talented but also a bit mad  Lizard like Tongue out, and then mouth open pulling on bottom gum line with left hand, what was all that about? The queens dance troupe were good, especially having to not only decipher but then perform her very strange choreography.
PS: being nosey, and knowing that son missed out getting a party booking this year, wondering how much was the ticket price inc MH camping this year. Did it sell out within minutes of being available on-line as it did a couple years back?
Thanks
Les

We watched up to the 3rd or 4th song of the cure, got bored walked over to see Christine and the Queens, just saying she was absolutely mesmerising with her performance on stage, defo a bit bonkers, but v talented.
We paid £250 per ticket & £200 for large m home, it’s @ bath and west shuttle bus in but you also need to get on the same bus as all the drop off people, which means some long wait’s because of unloading baggage while you wait in the bus, v frustrating in the heat this year, no black tank dump point or grey waste after asking the steward

Shame you got bored with the cure's first half as the second half hour was much better, but they ended leaving the crowd calling out for a famous track they missed out on their song list.
The track "A Forrest" was great, lovely slow intro. The other lead guitar guy is very famous cant remember his name. he is American I think and his talent shone tonight as usual. The Bass player was also good but trying too hard to copy new order guy playing his guitar low over his knees, hope his back holds out over time, but very good bass lines.
Glad you enjoyed Glasto, it must be so much better taking the MH than sleeping in a damp tent, not so good about no black & grey waste facilities for that sort of dosh though.
Pee in the hedge must be the only solution.:sneaky:

No problem filling the black and grey to there limits , just want to dump before 7hr journey back to the Lake District. Will catch up with the cure on TV. It’s really difficult deciding when your here who’s best to see, BBC stitch everything together to make it seamless, but as you know it can take 30 mins from one stage to the next to catch another act

It sounds like those of you who went had a fantastic time !
We watched on tv and have got to agree the sound was poor for Janet Jackson and kylie but maybe the dance routines affected their singing .
I wish they had just come out and sung, Kylie's 5 costume changes were unessecary and left the set a bit disjointed for me .
Keep it simple and raw and sing what the crowd know and you will have them eating out of your hand.

Saying all that my daughters who have both been twice in the past , love the atmosphere, the music and made me feel old when the eldest said there is some bloke called Neil Young on who is he!? But she said that “rocking the free world “sing along with over 200,000 people was the best sound ever!!

Glad you all enjoyed it !
