As stated earlier post, I broke down twice no issues .so, am I understanding this correctly, you are travelling without health insurance and do not know if you will get help should your van break down?

Could that be because Spain are actively testing unlike the UK who are testing in dribs and drabs.....if you're lucky? And yet the rate of people tested positive is twice that of UK

Dont test as many people and the infection rate will ultimately be lower?
Could be another manipulation of the true extent of the situation here in good old blighty
Yes you stated you have vehicle breakdown cover (albeit there maybe greatly affected due to the pandemic) but no valid personal travel health insurance except presumably the EU card which will not be available from Jan 1st 2021 in countries that are on the FOC's advise of not to travelYou are not understanding correctly, as that is not what I posted. Please feel free to read my post again.
Regards,
Jock.
I'm definitely no expert on this, and I may well be wrong, but from what I understand, there has been an element of double counting of the UK figures.
Then why is it that the UK has conducted more testing than Spain, France or Germany and most other EU countries.

As of December 22, 2022, Austria had performed the most COVID-19 tests per one million population among the countries most severely impacted by the pandemic.www.statista.com

I think suavecarve is probably the man to answer this one .
precisely what Tykatem said however I would have put it like this.I'm definitely no expert on this, and I may well be wrong, but from what I understand, there has been an element of double counting of the UK figures.

Totally agree however these new engines etc require lap tops etc to diagnose faults,. Those were the days when a ladies undergarments would get a Gardner (engine for non lorry drivers ) homeYears ago i never had any breakdown cover..If i could not repair it my self i rang a garage,,BUSBY..
I didn't state anything of the kind. I merely passed on the advice of my insurers, which was in line with the advice others had received from their insurers.Yes you stated you have vehicle breakdown cover (albeit there maybe greatly affected due to the pandemic) but no valid personal travel health insurance except presumably the EU card which will not be available from Jan 1st 2021 in countries that are on the FOC's advise of not to travel
I thought I might be helping others by passing on that advice from my insurers. I certainly didn't expect my post to be scrutunised, with presumptions being made about what I might, or might not have done. Gordon Bennett!JockandRita said:Having discussed the matter with my insurers NFU, and reading the same discussion matter from others, it's only travel insurance that may be null and void, should you travel against the FCO's advice for particular countries.
The only concern re motor vehicle insurance, was that due to Covid measures in some countries, any breakdown or recovery assistance may be greatly affected.
And what were you doing wearing ladies undergarments in the cab..Some weird lorry drivers around back then. BUSBY.Totally agree however these new engines etc require lap tops etc to diagnose faults,. Never had one until I bought this motorhome..Used to sleep with my boots on when it was cold..BUSBYNo nightheaters in my day !
& as I posted earlier it is of no use testing 500,000 people per day if you are only getting results each day for 28% of them or 140.000, within 24 hours .That means at the moment as per last Fridays figures 72% of all tests done each day have no results ? Where are they & when will they appear & will it be like here with a huge spike when they come to light?
Then why is it that the UK has conducted more testing than Spain, France or Germany and most other EU countries.

Why didn't she use her ehic card?Been in Spain for 2 months now and where we live there has only been a few cases compared to where I have a house the U.K.
All the shops, bars and restaurants are open and everyone is going about there daily lives with obvious caution, masks and SD.
On travel insurance one of my wife’s friends was admitted to hospital on a non virus related issue on Tuesday and never gave her travel insurance a second thought, but it was void as she had arrived here 3 months ago, in breach of the FO travel ban, so she was charged €1100 plus for 1 night in hospital and extra for the drugs, doctor and nurses, she discharged herself as soon as she realised her error and is recuperating at home with her friends helping.
Disorientated, thought she had it covered with travel insurance, not sure, confused, not wellWhy didn't she use her ehic card?
Had she not got E111 ? BUSBY.Been in Spain for 2 months now and where we live there has only been a few cases compared to where I have a house the U.K.

12,872 ? blamed on a 'technical error' in counting from the entire week ?You also have to remember that todays 6k+ in the Uk is likely to be double that next week.
Make sure you have an alternative to the European medical card if you are there beyond the year end or have deep pockets. We're still going to Spain over christmas if we can.....safer than over here I think
From the NHS website read the last two lines.Make sure you have an alternative to the European medical card if you are there beyond the year end or have deep pockets.
The problem might be, convincing a Spanish Medical Authority of compliance with that ruling. You can continue to use your EHIC in the country you were visiting on 31 December 2020 for the duration of your visit to that country.
My apologies I had read that before but had a brain dead moment. From the NHS website read the last two lines.
Healthcare during the transition period
There will be no changes to healthcare access for UK nationals visiting or living in the EU, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland before 31 December 2020.
You can continue to use your EHIC during this time, as you did before.
An EHIC is not a replacement for travel insurance. Make sure you have both before you travel.
