Try putting make and model and layout on here for what you think it is worth ( i'm not looking for another 1 yet ) trade in price see what happens gearbox could cost up to 2k to exchange including removal and refitting - exchange gearbox on its own is going to be around 1k - could be a cheap vehicle for someone with a bit of work or drive as is

It sure as hell ain’t my nature or way of doing things..

I treat as I expect to be treated . Simple.
I wish Fiat had the same way of thinking as you do. I had to fork out 2300€ to have the sync on my 25000 mile Fiat gear box repaired. I know a guy who works for the main agent at Citroen ( Same Gearbox) he said they have a problem. I also spoke with a guy who runs a fleet of 30 Citroen vans. He provides a home tire fitting service. None of his Vans reached 50 thousand KILOMETERS without a gearbox problem. Someone posted on here a while back that they ran a fleet of 20 Fiat vans, same story. It seems to go in batches as some people haven't had any problems. I have risked buying a second Fiat as they are a very nice drive if you have a good one. In France 82% of MH are on a Fiat base van

The ambulance service in Stoke on Trent as used Fiat or Peugeot based vans for many years now and they must do many miles.
I couldn’t see them using these vans if after a few thousand miles they were prone to gearbox problems.

Dealers don't normally bother to drive trade in's often don't even look at the van, all they want is year model & mileage and they give you a price.

When I traded my Fiat Swift in for a Rapido the dealer did a very thorough check particularly for damp which he found quite a bit of, didn’t test drive it though.

The Peugeot vehicles use a different engine and gearbox.

Just saying so Peugeot owners don’t start worrying.

I think the difference between heavily used Fiat vans is our MHs do less miles so many fail outside of warranty. Whilst say ambulances likely fail in a much shorter time.

Our van for instance is 5 years old now and has 12K miles on the odo.

Update guys it’s going in to gearbox specialist to have it removed and fixed £1000
What do you think ? The bloke comes highly recommended

I'd pay the £1000 and get it repaired - labour cost for removal and refitting included think you will struggle getting a better price

You will pay £1000 for a s/hand g/box without fitting and not knowing if its OK.Seems a good deal if they guarantee it.

I have read somewhere that the Fiat and Citroen gearboxes need to be slightly overfilled in order to get the oil up to the 5th gear, especially if they are not driven hard ie just poodling around. I think most motorhomes tend not to be driven with viger.

I was talking to a Manager from Severn Trent water and he said they had loads of problems with the fiat vans they leased.
Like all large organisations they just have to bite the bullet and pay for any repairs out of a different fund from the purchase one.

All I’m concerned about is that it doesn’t happen again anytime soon

Does anyone have any ideas why it’s gone bad at such short mileage’s
