Galileo SatNavs - will we miss them?

Interestingly (or maybe not...) the clock has to be so accurate that the weaker gravitational field further from the Earth's surface affects the clock timing, and has to be accounted for. One of the very few practical applications of Einstein's General Theory of Relativity.

The Swiss guy with the lovely new 13m boat on the same pontoon as us near Montpellier was a retired 'watchmaker'. It took a while for him to admit that he had a mathematics PhD and was one of the people directly responsible for developing the atomic clock!

That is what I was alluding to with the very very very :D

It was one of the first if not the very first practical applications/proofs of relativity.

No, something I read somewhere 🤔 they were pretty sure it was happening.

This isn't fake news, the EU (Germany) were trying to control all the armies and air forces of the members as one unit, there are lots who don't like it ( one reason for the B word ) Not heard of anything Naval similar

Might have to go old school remember what bonnets on cars were for, not so useful on our vans, that’s where you used to spread out the map.
With out satnav software most people wouldn’t be able to navigate further than there local town these days
Yep - still keep my bonnet, starting handle, and road atlas in the boot  .
