Gadget Johns new ebike

Without doubt having been victim of this recent You Tube by GJ...he clearly knows nothing about bikes or cycling...he live up to his name as Gadget John and is reviewing a Gadget not as most of us know as a bike.. To add to this he has a group of very sad folk that follow his every word. I just hope nobody gives him a gun or an grenade...

He doesn’t like criticism does he. Replied with the fact that it’s illegal and he’s responded with get my facts right.

So he’s right and the laws wrong ummmmmm I’d know who I’d follow and that’s not this so called John who only does this as it makes him money from his channel.

So sad.

There is no point trying to reason with him . He won’t listen to facts and is a fountain of misinformation.

Informative posting this. Never heard of the bloke. Thanks for helping me decide to NOT watch his videos...sounds a real plonker.

I will bet that he has had many people tell him his new 750 watt E Bike is illegal to be used on UK roads, I bet also that his previous E Bike supplier Mi Rider, also told him that, but as usual if he doesn't agree, he will just ignore people.
In Fact knowing him from the past, he would probably say something like, I like hundreds of others bought it on E Bay UK, if its illegal, then arrest me!
I could mention the many times he has wired stuff incorrectly, advised others to do the same, but it was he that ended up with a burnt out his Electrobloc Charger for charging two large lithium batteries, as he wouldn't take the advice given that the existing split load charger needed to be isolated when using 2 x 30 amp Victron Dc to Dc chargers, wired in parallel.

You tube is stuffed full of crap videos, bad advice, boring travelogs, unboxing vids, and reviews by idiots, .. who wants to watch someone open a box

Worst of all are the so called "hacks" whatever that is.. oh please save me from these morons ..

There are no doubt some excellent instructive videos .. and plenty of good music vids, but wading though the shit to find that pearl takes too long..

Ask on here and you generally get good advice on most topics, and not just some plonker trying to be a video star...

gadget and bodge it , pair of youtube ankers

I find youtube useful, I have repaired an oven based on watching a video from a spare part / repair company. Other videos like GJs are "interesting" and often convince me I should get professional advice / help and not DIY

Its a case of "watcher beware" as well as "buyer beware"

Well well well .
using the link he provided in the YouTube description in his video I managed to find the supplier of the bike 😀.
Firstly he over paid on eBay .The bike is available for £780 delivered direct from the supplier .

Secondly I thought it only right to ask the seller if the bike was legal for UK road use .

See the conversation below .
He is so irresponsible to encourage his viewers to purchase this bike for use on a UK road .

People use them on U.K. roads regardless if they are legal or not and just take the chance.

Paris has recently banned e-bikes after they allowed them.

Wow, I knew they had banned e scooters, very brave for them to ban ebikes now, can't see us doing that over here

Nothing to do with ebikes but YouTube.
I have recently come across some idiot in a wheelchair going round police stations and demanding to film in them and asking the police who confront him for their numbers and stuff and doing all he can to rile them, why he isn't locked up I'll never know.
Aj audits he's called if anyone doubts it.

Oh...those "auditor" idiots...need to get jobs

Can’t you just register the bike, plate it etc and then all OK ? Not saying anyone will but perhaps that would make it OK ?

Technically he could register it as a moped, get it MOT'd, have a reg plate, insurance, tax, lights and wear a motorcycle helmet. Then he could ride it on the road (but not cycle paths)... For some reason, that option isn't very popular. 😁

Would also need to be an approved vehicle so either type approved by the manufacturer or have a single approval by DVSA like a kit car etc

I think there's a detailed MOT that means you don't need type approval docs. The vehicle has each element tested more thoroughly. A mate just got a track car back on the road. It's massively modified as he was using it in a race series. It's got a roll cage, harnesses, no interior, custom ECU. Wasn't cheap.

It couldn’t be ridden as a moped as top speed is in excess of the speed limit for mopeds which is 45kph or 27.96 mph
