I know another toilet thread 😁
Were doing a tour of Scotland, presently by loch lomond, all is good sun is shining, beer is going down a treat. The one thing that is spoiling it is the stale funk from the toilet.
Before we left I cleaned it with bathroom cleaner every where, the bowl round the back all the floors, inside where the cartridge lives, then used the shower to throughly rinse it all down.
The funk is back 😤 I'm at a loss what to do or what else to clean next.
All advise and witty comments are welcome 🤣

No witty comments I am afraid but can I make a recommendation of Solbio? A game changer for me. You need to thoroughly wash out and not use any product that might kill the bacteria going forward but from here on in your senses will be assaulted with nothing other than pine forests.

I fitted the Thetford version of a SOG and ours is now chemical and smell free.
I know some that swear by this additive for a pong-free sweet-smelling loo. .

This ^^^^^

Before ‘commissioning’ the new MoHo I thoroughly rinsed out the unused cassette to remove all traces of the blue gunk it came with. We have since then used Solbio exclusively - with about half the recommended dosage after emptying but a strong concentration in the spray bottle we use rather than flushing - and it gives off a perfectly acceptable smell of eucalyptus.

When you cleaned it did you remove the toilet seat? If not then do so as you'll be horrified at the muck under it which cannot be cleaned otherwise. This is where I've always found any nasty niffs come from.

No I did not remove the seat, I will give it a go 😊

I'm assuming the shower does not have a trap ,like the kitchen and vanity sink🤔

Probably does but the traps they fit are as good as useless anyway. You will often find it is after you have driven it smells bad as the traps hold so little water it vibrates out when driving.

The toilet and it's tank is a closed system that is easy to clean, which is why most all persistent toilet smells when investigated grey water smells not black. Grey waste does a good imitation of toilet waste smells but can be far worse.

If it is the grey waste, why do I smell it just in the toilet and not the rest of the van😕
