"funflairs" eye problem

Hi Martin, if you're on Statins this may be of interest,
Warning over serious statins side effect as health chiefs urge patients taking cholesterol-busting pills to 'be alert' to potentially killer complication https://mol.im/a/12566131 via https://dailym.ai/android

I know it's the Daily Mail but in light of what Jim posted it may be relevant.
Hope all is sorted for you now,
Pauline and Mike.
Wow thanks for that Pauline and Mike, I am on Atorvastatin the first one on the list  another question for my neurologist on Friday.

EDIT
I should add that I have been on the Statins for two years now and the article suggests that a reaction would be within a few days to three months.

Martin don’t work so hard and let your supper wife take over jocking apart hope alls well,I don’t think I could let sue drive I’m nervous in the smart car ,see you soon.

Just a quick update and a question, update first though, since the initial mad flurry of action things have now slowed down a bit, I am on medication and had a CT scan but waiting another specialist appointment, the medication is working to a point but I would like it to be better, I had to inform our insurers (car and MH) and they have withdrawn cover (n) pending the DVLA deliberating my licence status, to be fair I have not been happy driving so can understand the insurers position.

So what is the question you might be wondering  quite simple really but prompted by my experience "do you share driving" (apologies to solo travelers of course), I am lucky that Jen wasn't fazed by the prospect of driving the van and is taking her new position seriously, we are away at the moment but only 20 miles from home but the next trip will be further and then hopefully New Year we will be at Ambleside.

Hope you get back to driving soon. Tim does most of the driving but I can and will if needed. I am the better navigator though and the only one who knows where we’re heading next 😂.
Sounds like you keep him in the dark so he doesn't go without you ;) and thanks but i'm not holding my breath:unsure:

Bless, you are so positive about it all so good for you.

Regarding driving. Like you I've always done it but made sure Nikki can in case something happens as in your case. She gets a practice now and then to keep her eye in but I enjoy it more than she so I do it.
We have asked if we would continue if I couldn't drive and nikki says she would.

Not sure how Jen feels about driving the big bus but clearly she's doing OK in it. Well done Jen

Good plan Nikki keeping her hand in Paul, Jen is happy so far but wouldn’t do the miles I was happy doing so we will just travel differently, if anything changes and I am still sidelined we could just buy something smaller 😃 needs must and all that.

Go on then....this was what it was all about for you wasn't it...
I'll do the paperwork in the morning for a straight swap with you and include leaving the carpets in.

Sorry Paul my plan was was to keep the Palace as well😊 but I will keep your kind offer in mind😏

Martin, I’ve always shared the driving with Cliff. The more you do it the easier it gets.

Hope things get easier for you soon.

Best wishes to you and Jen.

Thanks and well done Ger👍 and I should have said well done Nikki as well😏 or is that a bit sexist🤔 maybe I should say well done Cliff and Paul as I now know it isn’t that easy being the passenger 😄

After I had my licence revoked for medical reasons 2.1/2 years ago Merilyn has done all the driving in our 7.4m Dethleffs. Now that I have got my licence back we have decided that she will periodically do some driving to keep her hand in.

I know we saw you briefly at Lincoln but didn’t have much of a catch up, I didn’t realise you had your licence back so that is great news 👍

Not sexist for me Martin!

Cliff’s always been of the logic if he can do it, so can I!

I’ve never thought to say ‘I’de rather not’!

I think the main thing to stress is if you mess up, don’t panic.

I was driving the van around the Peripherique in Paris, when we exited at the wrong junction, and came down the slip road right into the Saturday market!

We could have opened the windows and picked leather jackets and hats off the stalls we were that rammed in, but I just kept driving slowly, giving the sat nav a chance to reroute, and just followed it out!

I won’t tell you the jams I’ve got us into being a navigator though …

Hope it all works out OK Martin , Bev only asked about you today, we came down the A1 and I mentioned you both

I do our driving but think Bev would rather she did sometimes based on the co pilot narrative 🤔😁

Sorry to hear about this Martin . However if you were not confident driving it’s probably best you don’t for now . I hope you make a full recovery and can drive again soon. I would struggle to confidently drive the Palace and would be nervous , Jen has done an amazing job . Best wishes to the both of you 👍

Hi Martin. We are both really sad to hear of this latest news. Hopefully it will just be short term and I’m sure Jen will do a sterling job of navigating you both about on your jollies in the interim. Wish you all the luck for the immediate future. 👍

So just a quick update and wrap this thread up hopefully, a couple of months back now I had a letter from DVLA and they were replacing my licence on a 3 yearly medical review basis but I lost the automatic "old farts" C1E over 3500kg entitlement which set me into panic mode looking at sub 3500kg vans and even contemplating Jen driving to the Morelo factory open in Germany ;), I then stopped panicking and realised that I could of course do the D4 medical and apply for my C1E which I did and 🍾 today I got my licence in the important bit is over 3500kg and I have checked it a couple of times and yes it is definitely there  came back in just over 3 1/2 weeks after a false start when I missed a tick box on the application so all is good in the funflair house tonight.

Of course I have had great support off funsters as expected and some good advice from (Jim and TheTwoOfUs to name but two) for which I am most grateful, onwards and upward, oh and the original eye problem is a lot better now as I have been put on a course of steroids which seem to be helping with the auto immune side of the things.

That’s great news Martin, good luck going forward (and backwards of course 😂), must be a huge relief for you both.

Well done Martin 👍
Given your eye problem are you sure you read it right 😄
I guess I could claim it as an honest mistake 😀

Nice one Martin, really pleased you can drive the van again and keep ticking over till your ready to throw me the keys🤣🤣🤣🤣
Panic over, normal service to be resumed👌🏼👌🏼

Delighted to hear that you have had a satisfactory outcome Martin! I can imagine the angst at the thought of you parting with your beloved Morelo! Chin up and plan the next trip 😃

HOORAY!!!!

Martin, I am so glad to hear that good news. [Even if it means that there is not a Palace on the market at 1/2 list price ;) ]

Now get planning and get moving.

All the Best

Geoff and Basia
