Full time through winter in search of new life

OK here we go....

I pick up where we left off a year ago. We'd Identifed a place in Mayenne, more lux group de gite but it had 3Ha (6.5 acres) and we thought we could develop glamping. We made an offer and it wa accepted. We got i. contact with the LA and the planning folk and developed a plan. Lots of work. We were ready to sign, when the vendors insisted on structuring the sale in a strange way, all the value in the business (which was worthless) and nothing in the walls. Murs and Fonds. It's critical in France. After loads of digging and questions and non-answers and hassle and obstruction we discover they were trying to do a number on us. If we accepted their terms, we inherited their tax obligations. and if we had to sell for any reason within 15 years we would inherit their tax bill. If in 5 years it was €150k.

It took an eternity to extract that from their accountants. We eventually walked. The place had been on market for 5 years. We since found that previous sales had fallen through for the same reason. It's still available if anyone interested - now 6 years on the market. The owners were a paranoid nightmare. He a brit, she an american.

so, in March 2024 we moved on, an we identified another very interesting proposition in Mayenne. This time A bit further north, in the territory where loads of brits buy....

Can’t you give us the headline of the timeline first then fill in the detail?

Maybe work backwards too and tell us what you’ve actually bought and where? 👍🏻
