No idea what triggered it, but GP in Edinburgh has confirmed I have frozen shoulder.
It's very painful, and I have little use of my right arm.
Hopefully the cocodamol and Naproxen will get it under control.
It's so annoying, I've been looking forward to this trip for months.
However, on a positive note its not stopping the fun. I can drive, gearstick is on the left, and I can apply the handbrake.

Currently parked overnight at the Kelpies. Planning to head for Glasgow tomorrow. I've found a search for sites at Nether Pollock Park.
Any tips of things to see? It seems to be on the trainline for central Glasgow.

I can sympathise with the frozen shoulder.
I had it a long time ago and eventually the doc took drastic action.
He injected steroids directly into the shoulder joint.
He had trouble finding the gap between ball and socket so had to go in a second time.......and it didn't work.
I'd lay on the bed and every day force my arm a little further over my head.
Took a couple of weeks but it's been ok ever since.

Many years ago my wife had a long running frozen shoulder.

Eventually she had “manipulation” under general anaesthetic to release it as nothing else had worked.

Ouch!

Hope you recover soon.

I have had problems with my shoulder and become fed up with the doctors or physios not being able to sort it. I watched "Body Fit Exercises" on you tube and they helped me.

Hi Lois. Thanks for the suggestions. Do you think parking at Kelvin Grove would be a better choice?

I had a steroid injection for a rotator cuff injury the physio who did it does it all the time in an NHS clinic he said it doesn't need to actually go into the gap in the joint just into the sac that surrounds it. Hardly any discomfort and worked great!
It was quite interesting he used a mix of steroid and local anaesthetic . He found the position where it was most uncomfortable to move the joint to first then after the injection asked me to do the same it felt fine. He explained that was the local anaesthetic but showed the injection was in the right place once the anaesthetic wore off the discomfort would return and if the steroid worked it would then improve. I was lucky the next day it was like a miracle cure after several months of discomfort.

You have my greatest sympathy and I hope you get it sorted without too much trouble.
I am expecting problems as I get older after dislocating my shoulder when I was in the army. I get pain in my shoulder and pins and needles in my fingers occasionally. It’s probably not helped by being sent back to work straight after my shoulder was put back in place.

How is it today MaidinDevon ?
Hi Helen, thank you for asking, and offering a Tens machine.
The drugs are managing my pain quite well. I have a bit more movement, reaching forwards.
I am using it, and doing the exercise recommended.
I just hope it heals quickly, as it got bad quickly.
Driving to Glasgow was fine, and we've had a lovely day. Explored the Cathedral and Necropolis, and been round Kelvingrove as well.

Planning to head for D & G tomorrow. Any suggestions gratefully received. ambulancekidd
Or any other knowledgeable peeps. Heading towards Liverpool, as the end of the trip.

Sounds like your shoulder not stopping you girls if your going to Liverpool go to Crosby beach and see 'the other place' Gormley's art instilation buy check the tides out.
It is rather strange watching them either appear or disappear as the tide changes

Hi

A couple of exercises attached, they helped me a few years ago and still doing some with my rotator cuff problem.

What do you like to visit and I can give you tips for D&G, also do you like wild camping or sites?
Hi Lorger
We like walking, scenery, and interesting places. We are staying in Moffat tomorrow to empty and fill up, so wild camping, or pub stopovers would be great. Not bothered about shopping, or very touristy places.
Both vans are 7m. We are National Trust members.

Not sure how long you’re in the area so just a couple quick ones close to Dumfries, if staying for a week or more I can give more.
You could stay at Castle Corner just past Glencaple, it’s an old CL that’s now free with the option of donations. From there you can easily walk to Caerlaverock Castle, not sure if it’s open but the grounds will be.
You can stay in the car park in New Abbey right next to Sweetheart Abbey, I think it’s Scottish heritage so your NT might cover it. Also in the village you have pub (think it’s still open) shop and old corn mill, from the village you can do some lovely walks including Waterloo monument and Criffel (highest hill in D&G)
You’ll all be ok to park in the car park on the Whitesands in Dumfries and visit Robert Burns house and his Mausoleum, should also be fine to park in Brooms RD car park in Dumfries, park in the coach area where you’ll see a couple of MHs, don’t worry we don’t have traffic wardens here and MHs park there all the time.

Thank you for your recommendations. We stayed in Dumfries last night in the coach park bit, snd enjoyed exploring.
Currently parked up at Castle Corner after a walk to the Castle. Brilliant spot.
Apparently 💯 rain tomorrow, so we think that we might go to Glencaple, and have lunch.
We have decided not to walk up Criffel this time.
I did make it up to Loch Skeene, and the Grey Marest Tail waterfall, but my shoulder wasn't happy, particularly on the descent.

However, I am really pleased, the Naproxen seems to be really effective at reducing inflammation.
I have been able to reduce the cocodamol, and getting some mobility back.

Fingers crossed that it continues to improve.

So, in summary, we have had a great time around Dumfries, and would love some recommendations further west, the Road Atlas shows some scenic drives.

MaidinDevon glad you enjoyed our home town, I’d suggest the Galloway forest as Northernraider suggest. If you check here https://forestryandland.gov.scot/stay-the-night you’ll find some nice locations for a very small fee, you need to download the parking app. I’d recommend the drive from New Galloway to Newton Stewart on the A712 (the queens way), you can stay at the visitor centre at Clatteringshaws and also empty your cassette here, unfortunately the cafe is now closed. If you drive past C/shaws you pass the otters road and then you’ll come to the red deer park, loads of deer you can sit and look at from the watch, we’ve also stayed the night here with no issues. Further along you’ll find the wild goat park and another waterfall also called Grey mares tail but a lot smaller and easier walk to that plus the Maxwell monument.
Newton Stewart is a nice little market town with all the supermarkets if you need topping up, plus the Dark Sky Gin distillery. Then I’d recommend Wigtown if you like books as it our national book town and you’ve just missed the festival. From there you have Garlieston with a CMC site plus the pub allows parking but not sure the size limit, or just round the coast you have Isle Of Whithorn and the Steampacket inn who allow parking in the car park round the back if you spend in pub.
Hope this helps and keeps you busy for a day or two, there’s more to see than I’ve mentioned so take your time and enjoy the sunshine 😂😂

Sorry about your shoulder. Dose up and head for the Tenement House, Scottish NT, and treat yourself to tea at mackintosh at the Willow. Best to book.

Suffered for months with a frozen shoulder, did all the excersises ( wife is a physio) but after another few months got a steroid injection from another NHS physio, the relief was immediate but it came back slightly and I received another 3 weeks later and completely fixed. It was like a miracle cure.
You can park overnight almost in the centre of Glasgow at Blackfriers carpark High Street carpark ( paid)
