French strikes and diesel availability

we are in Carcassonne
We were there last weekend. The old city was amazing, still cant work out how they did the circles on the walls. The Saturday market was however disappointment.

Thank you for the updates. We are back in France on Monday, heading back to UK. So need one good fill on way back to Calais. Or lots of top ups(y)

No issues at all that we have seen. Travelled from Belgium to the Dordogne, no shortages or queues.

This CV is all very promising gor a relaxed and enjoyable journey back. Thanks again.

This is today's update on the French fuel shortages. If you scroll down, there is a handy interactive map showing which Departments are most affected and which are barely affected, where fuel is plentiful. You can plan where to refuel during your travels.

As an aside, look how much cheaper Gazole (diesel) is than petrol. It's the opposite to the price difference in the UK.

Thank you Speedy. Very helpful. Currently in Colliure with almost a tank full of Spanish diesel. Will look more closely at map and my averages before we leave here to pick optimal fill up location(s) on way to Calais.

The circles n the walls are from an art installation that was done some years ago.

A quick google. Artist did it and was not popular for it.

Think I may have been right about jet washing? But to get rid of the yellow?

We have driven from Argeles sur Mer to near Montpelier on A9 and then N86. Motorway and non motorway fuel stops all had fuel and when filling, no restrictions. Even the stations outside villages that were empty in March when we can down were stocked.

The main issue earlier in the year was when the refineries were on strike. They are up to speed again.

We haven’t seen any issues at all.

Just up now by Bayeux.

No queue and all have fuel that we have seen.

I stopped at a intermarche near Nevers (1.784€) and the pump had max 50€ so thought pump may stop at that but no attendant and it didn’t stop, so put 80€ worth in.

Now as far north as Joinville. No longer signs of shortages. Hope no one needs to resurrect this thread any time soon.

I’m glad they have cleaned the yellow stripes off it this year, put there in the name of ART!!

looks like they have pressure washed it off to create the circles?
Yes I thought that can still see them a bit. A few years ago a quite famous artist (then) was wrapping historical edifices!!

A very local update for between Limoux and Narbonne on the D613 backroad. The gas station at Mouthoumet (11330) which reduced consumption of 10 litres 2 weeks ago has now zero gas because it broke down!!! Probably too many people using it! We were caught out and do not have enough to get us further down the same road to St Laurent de la Cabrerisse, so have been waiting for « our » gas station to be repaired!!! Further updates soon.
That is a long twisty mountain road, far away from gas stations beware.
