French strikes and diesel availability

I hope it clears up by a week Sunday when we go over, last time we went it was when the fuel shortages were happening šŸ™
We just filled up on the A7 but as an aside our campsite had no hot water having run out of heating fuel/ gas.

A couple of years ago, my lad was in France during the ā€œyellow vestā€ disruption. He was stopped by a street barricade and was told by a very kind Frenchman to put a yellow vest on the dashboard and he would be let through. It worked.
Perhaps popping your hi viz on the dashboard will give you a break.
Worth remembering when the locals are having a pop at the government
Yes it work, shows solidarity, toots and smiles help a lot too.

We're over there two days after you - and last time we were there was when the fuel shortages were going on - are we following each other about?

It's now 1.84 in Bourg St Maurice. 3 cent more than this morning

We've just travelled up the a63 /n10 from South of bordeaux to North of Tours ...no sign of shortages or panic buying. We're heading for le crotoy tomorrow, so we'll see how that goes and report back.

A couple of 'Manifestations' yesterday on the N10 around Angouleme and on the N141 to Limoges; ie Silly Buggers for want of a better word blocking the traffic lanes and going 'slowly'. Fuel still available.

Same here, it was the same last year. We usually coincide with any strike action. It's a skill I've acquired šŸ˜‚

No fuel shortage issues from Caen through Rennes, Nantes and now at Challans. Just stopped off to spend a few hours on the statics getting them ready, then off later towards La Rochelle.

Hi. Hyper U Aizenay has been limiting folk to 20L, Intermarche wasn't.

We are not travelling for a few weeks yet but are heading from Morelo factory to Provence, so if a problem we could run down the German side of the Rhine and fill up before crossing at Mulhouse, or even run through Switzerland.

Alternatively we could run down the French side and just pop across to Germany for diesel, but maybe all the French would be doing that causing problems of supply in Germany also.

Just stay out of big towns and cities that is where most of the trouble is. Riots still going on, lots of ā€˜agents provocateursā€™ around and the focus moved west to ā€˜opposeā€™ or ā€˜joinā€™ the farmers protesting around making a new reservoirs (bassine), all getting a bit confused now.

Yesterday, in the next village to us in 11, isolated CorbiĆØres, we were only allowed 10 liters of diesel, the pump doctored to stop. A few local farmer standing around laughing having all used their cards several times, so we did too! local knowledge. It is the only station service for 40km in all directions.
So, if this is all over France and getting worse, and you are planning a long trip, get across France asap, take several cards, and be prepared to wander around a few pumps. Filling cans is illegal now. My card worked three times, but in larger towns cards may be recognized by the pumpā€™s computers.
Inconsistencies all over France with diesel supplies. Last time the strikers blockaded the refineries it was the diesel (gas oil) that was hardest to get.

Yesterday on motorways near Marseille there was gazole but restricted amounts of fuel at each fill. If using multiple cards the pre-authorisation amount is still set at ā‚¬100/150. Even if restricted to say ā‚¬40 fill. Only one local station near Laudun had fuel - again had to use multiple cards - no attendant, just automated pumps.

Any more feedback on fuel availability in mid to northern France. In a little over a week we will be heading back home from Spain through France. Need to decide whether to replan.

I cannot comment today because we have not been out since we were restricted to 10lts !! Our shop offered to deliver so Iā€™ll let them use their diesel!

Yes driven from tournon sur rhone to Beaune and all motorway services were fully stocked

Great thanks for feedback. Our route back follows the motorway with a couple of stops on the way. Provided we can get a fill in the dijon region we should be able to get to Calais.

The strikes continue with a General Strike on April 6th. Avoid town centres and get fuel the day before, because you never know who may join in. Trying to find info on the blockades of refineries.

Good luck on your journey. Iā€™m sure you will be fine, main stream media tends to dramatise things.

Just a reminder to anyone traveling over Easter.

big National Strike 6 April - plan accordingly.

put your yellow security vests on show in your vans to show solidarity with at least a portion of the strikers if you happen to get caught.

Can anyone provide an update on here regarding diesel availability at the service stations on the A26?

There is less media noise about shortages so I am hoping the shortages have eased.

Not on A26, presently between Limoges and Toulouse on the Dordogne and havenā€™t had any issues, fuel shortages, Qs etc over the last week (and no yellow jackets).
