We have a ferry booked to France tomorrow evening Mar.20th from Rosslare, is there anybody in France at the moment can advise on diesel availability due to the strikes over the pension age, just read that they are starting to shut down oil refineries.😬
Our plan is to drive down through France to Spain over a week or so.

No problem here in the Charente Department - just off the N10 - at the time of writing, and more importantly no sign of Panic Buying this morning at Super 'U'.

Can't help with the diesel question, but beware that when we were in France recently we encountered a couple of strikers' barricades on roundabouts. One was pretty scary because it caught us in a backup going back onto dual carriageway with 120 kmh speed limit. Just before we met it we did see a van with message board saying 'Bouchon'. Turns out this translates as something like 'cork' or I guess we would say 'bottleneck'.

We travel over from Newhaven on Thursday morning. We intend to fill in the UK before we leave. That should give us a fair distance before we need to refuel.

Filled up this morning at a SuperU in Héric, very busy, constant flow of 3 cars at each pump but no sign of any rationing.

Can anybody advise the latest on the fuel situation for travelling though France in the next few days on our way to Spain please.

No issues today south of Limoges. No Qs to be seen anywhere. Filled up at €1.789 so £1.58. It’s cheaper than petrol here, unlike UK.

How much is diesel in France at the moment?
We have just returned through France and at Super U diesel averaging around €1.80 per ltr but on the motorways noticed it could be up to €2.20 + so worth using supermarkets.
Spain was averaging around €1.65 ltr😊

€1.81 in the super u garage in Bourg St Maurice and no ques at the moment

just got back from 10days in France and although we were told about the diesel shortage, we didn't have any problem

We have just got back today there were shortages last week in Sanary sur Mer two garages ran out, we moved to Port Saint Louis du Rhone, they were limiting you to 40€....moving north we found several garages with only one of either petrol or diesel...manged to get enough to get home, ferries expected disruption tomorrow, so amended booking to return today...motorway signs near Calais were advising expect traffic delays.

We met this problem a few years ago. At St Valery sur Somme, a caravanner said he wasn’t going to move on; we left and queued at a local garage for a limited amount of diesel, got on the motorway and found that all services were full of diesel, ok a bit more expensive but by the time we got further south, we never had a problem in 5 weeks.
We’ve always wondered if they are still in St Valery!

Currently at Bordeaux, on my way back to the UK, no signs of any diesel shortage, expect to pay approx. €1.65 ltr.

I’ve been here nearly 5 weeks and no problems getting diesel. Stayed at an aire for a few days and the price when we arrived at the local ELeclerc was €1.72, when we left it had gone up to €1.82!

They're striking again tomorrow (Thu), but they think that might be the end of them? We're hopefully coming back next week, so will book our ferry back a day early incase. One local supermarket ran dry here (Limousin / Gueret) , but most ok.

a lot of places are dry including motorway stations, so full tank and jerry cans are the order of the day

Apparently the situation is getting slowly worse across France. Not noticed any big queues in the area around Narbonne.
this article on French news channel includes several apps to download that are useful for finding gas stations with stocks.

A couple of years ago, my lad was in France during the “yellow vest” disruption. He was stopped by a street barricade and was told by a very kind Frenchman to put a yellow vest on the dashboard and he would be let through. It worked.
Perhaps popping your hi viz on the dashboard will give you a break.
Worth remembering when the locals are having a pop at the government

The Russians must be rubbing their bloody hands at the chaos in Europe ( inc UK) with strikes and all the human rights stuff.

We are playing into their hands

In the south of France right now and yes there are definitely shortages and queues- we are a little worried about getting back up to Calais.

I hope it clears up by a week Sunday when we go over, last time we went it was when the fuel shortages were happening 🙁
