We are currently in the south of France and noticed some v long queues at petrol stations this am. Our neighbour where we have stopped has made us aware that the refineries have walked out on strike so no fuel is making its way to forecourts

I was wondering if anyone is aware how long this might be going on for ???

The strike is in its tenth day now and no indication of an end date.

I found a Total station on Wednesday with no diesel and I was running on reserve.
Thankfully Carrafor came to the rescue.
I'll be heading north next week and hoping I don't face problems

Not had any issues other than Total stations being closeď. Yes there are long queues at some of the stations but always found that in France.
Been here 10 days down South now Ardeche way.

We haven’t noticed queues anywhere. I didn’t know anything about the strike until I read this thread today!

We were driving to Montmorillon, and needed to get diesel, we had passed a garage selling for €1.73, but thought it would be cheaper in Limoges 🙄 - we got to Limoges and saw a garage selling for €2.05!

I then read the thread, and headed straight for a LeClerc, where we filled the tank for €1.79 per litre.

We’ve seen another garage selling for over €2, but as I said, no queues.

We were not aware of the strike until yesterday. As you say we encountered no issues coming down the western side of France, but now we are in the south east there's a problem. From what I can gather it's more serious around Paris and the Eastern side of France especially further north. Worth keeping an eye on it.

My rule on European travel is fill up when you can, water and fuel. Auchan has GPL, LPG at 63€ per ltr. That’s 57p. I filled up before we came home Wednesday.
By the way, the U.K. rail strike was on and the traffic was really light on the roads.

We got back from France a week ago. Most Total garages had no fuel then. Apparently they decided to match the government discount so were much cheaper than anyone else so they couldn't keep up with demand. Earlier in the trip I had filled my diesel at Total for euro 1.61/ltr

Having chatted now to the owner of the campsite we are on ( Nice spot outside Aix en Provence) the issue apprears to be the total and Exxon refineries have gone on strike. They are 3 of the 6 refineries in France, so supply is being severely limited. The government has released some of its emergency stock piles of fuel to try and make up the shortfall, but in some parts this is having little effect as panic buying has set in and we all know the impact that !!!! As we are reasonably close to the Italian border and have 2 weeks more over here, we are considering crossing into Italy and coming home the pretty way via the Italian Lakes, Alps, BlackForest and Belgium. Much further round but a lovely route. Even cloud ........

Today we made one of our infrequent visits to a peage. Only a short scoot up the A26 from Arras. We passed 2 Shell service areas both had signs saying no diesel. It’s definitely got worse over the past couple of weeks.

On our way to Calais from Mailleraye ready for the trip home tomorrow ☹️we needed to top up with diesel so called in at the Leclerc superstore at Outreau. Quite a queue but we all filled up but at a cost €1.819 a litre.

We passed the SuperU we had filled up at the day before and noticed no price for diesel on the sign, so maybe they had sold out

Is it only problems with diesel ? We're popping over next weekend to celebrate my 80th birthday. Taking the car and staying in hotel instead of the motorhome so will use petrol. Normally we aim to arrive with a near empty tank and fill up at Auchan in Dieppe but if there are problems with petrol we'll fill up in Newhaven. Only staying for 3 nights, day trip to Rouen and the rest around Dieppe so won't use a tank full.

I think its both petrol and diesel. I would come over with a full tank so you don't have to worry about it. Have a great birthday

We are on our way back from Spain. Filled up at Irun and have travelled today from well below Potiers up to Chartres on the N10. No motorway. I am sorry to report that we have not seen any petrol station and we have passed dozens that are selling Diesel. I am now desperate myself as I don’t think we will be able to reach the tunnel It is not just Total and Exxon but country wide. Bugger!! All bookings made and dog passport stamped!!
One positive side Very very few cars on road. Never seen N10 so quiet!!
