French diesel prices

People ask why are we paying so much here for fuel, it's easy to see why, As oil is priced in US$ around the world and the British pound is on par with the Ugandan Cocoa bean, What hope have we got for lower prices, The Euro and US$ sitting about equal £1.15
Prices here in France around 1.65 euro per litre. That’s around £1.45 - £1.50 per litre for diesel.
What’s it in the U.K now ? When I left two weeks ago it was £1.82. Litre.
A canny difference.

Today we have seen prices at €2.09 and as low as €1.63. Total seems to be the lowest we’ve seen
Saw a Total station today where diesel was €1.615. You would think there would be massive queues but there wasn't - and they hadn't sold out either.

Small total garage on the right just before boulougne on the d940 from calais 161.? At 6pm today small queue there

In Spain at the mo seems higher pieces than France but just been informed the prise you see is not what you pay as it is subserdiced by the gove so you pay less
Also on motorway tolls in Spain at all

Update, having just travelled Caen to Agde via the Vendeé and Tours, avoiding Autoroutes and Tolls.

Prices vary from ,€2.05 to €1.63 a litre. The consistently cheaper garages are the TotalEnergie ones, also Intermarche.

We’ve seen €1.60.something around Narbonne at a Total station - and it seems like in this area at least most of the supermarkets are lowering prices in response.

Total seem to have very quickly gained a reputation as being a better buy than its competitors. I wonder how long that will last and which one of the Uk Fuel suppliers will be first to blink?

Just paid €1.60 at the Super U in Bauge (Anjou). Well pleased with that in today’s climate. Drove 100 yards round the corner and it’s €1.56 at the Total and no-one queuing.

Went passed a Total garage in Bourges today €159.9 might call in tomorrow if there's not many waiting. 😜

We parked on the free Aire at Marmagne and cycled along the canal into the city (Bourges), well worth a visit if your passing. 😎 Bob.

A friend filled up today at the same garage €155. 😎 Bob.

Came past a Total station at Saint-Genis-de-Saintonge on the D137 today with diesel at €1.432 and it had fuel, but dam it we had only just fueled up half an hour before. :(

€1.50 just outside Chenonceaux

Yesterday in Coulogne, near Calais. Total garage 1.49€

That's gone up to 1.53€ today along with all the other Total stations around Calais. :frowny:
But doesn't it make you wonder why the prices are still so high in the UK? I drove past a petrol station this afternoon cause it was €1.63 but when you convert that to £, dis I do the right this?

No Al, we've moved on, getting the train tomorrow. How long are you out for?
Possibly another 2 weeks Paul, we’ve just had 2 weeks touring around Belgium and the Mosel which we’ve really enjoyed. That was a first for us and this top of Normandy is as well.

Just a breaker in for the Spain winter tour after christmas all being well 👍

1.78 in Luxembourg an hour or so ago and

1.64 at Metz 10 mins ago

Normandy and Brittany are lovely. If you are planning to go to Mont Saint Michel the big aire there is permanently closed, albeit they have put a sign up saying temporarily closed due to?

I spoke to the owner and she said it was not a temporary closure?

Enjoy your tour and stay safe!
