France to Reopen?

Surely most travelers that we might meet are fully jabbed, as that is generally a prerequisite to be able to cross borders. I’me fairly sure that’s not the case in our local supermarket, 25% of the Feckers don’t even wear a mask, that definitely would not be tolerated in Spain.
But surely these people who don't wear masks have some terrible condition that prevents them from wearing one, I mean you just have to look at most of them to realise that! Young, fit, arrogant but missing a few brain cells maybe

Here in Scunthorpe Barbers not wearing face masks police walk past and just turn a blind eye.
Don't want to upset folk that the rules don't apply to.

Is it still mandatory to wear masks, or is it now just "advisory"? I suspect the latter, in which case police have no powers. Edit: just checked gov.uk and yes you're right still mandatory in indoor settings including barbers.

Does anyone have any information on when/ if France might allow us to enter the country? I’ve got the tunnel booked for the 12th and spend time each day looking for any indication that I will be able to go, but I’ve not been able to find any info. Does anyone have any idea?
Get the impression France won't open to UK for a while. Macron is playing Napoleon games, closing/ restricting tunnel access, playing political games even with those who have homes

Yesterday over 300,000 cases in France so it would seem sensible to avoid being included in the number for tomorrow!
My family in France (French) some are vaccinated some not, my nephews wife is going to have a vaccination so she visit a Paris hospital with her son they live in Castres in the south west.

300k cases is exactly why there is fundamentally no reason to keep the border closed. You cannot import a material

All depends on wether Macron is voted in again or if some right winger beats him 😀
He hasn't even indicated that he will be standing yet?

Here not only does the barber/hairdresser have to wear a mask but so does the customer all the time+when having there haircut.

Why on earth do you want to travel, surely the sensiable thing to do at this time is to say at home, boring yes but much safer.
I don't blame the french at all
We came to Spain in June/July of last year, in our 60’s in our motorhome, no problems, niece in her 30’s went from Norfolk to Cornwall, caught Covid. Why wouldn’t we want to travel?

I bet having a beard trim gets interesting. do they trim it around the mask? How do they give a shave?

Do we really need to get into politics and blaming our Gov for the French restrictions. Can we add this sort of comment to the ban on Brexit comments. Many could easily strongly disagree with the above comment but this is not what I joined the site for!
I completely agree Leave politics & Religion out of our fantastic past time ( Full-time for some )

IMHO It will depend on the political situation. If Boris stops being difficult with their fishing licences .................
Start cancelling some licences he has already given out. They may then start to see sense.

Can,t see much change before March , but who knows anyway ?

I'm hoping to get permission to get back to my house in France if not next week, certainly the week after.

Then I'll hot foot it down to Spain.

No idea, never seen anyone having a beard trimmed?
Haircut each side is you hold mask or he unclipped one side whilst using scissors, razor, cut throat.
You shave at home.

Yes I am but the MH is Uk registered and I don't want to complicate things..... I'm still on the UK tax system...... It is very complex as my pension is paid from Germany and taxed there. B***t was not my idea.

Are you legally allowed to drive a UK registered MH if you are a resident of Spain?

I think you can drive what you like as long as you've got insurance and a license, I have several cars it's a life long problem, I'm seeking a cure.

I'm currently French Resident, but I have been Dutch Resident (driving a UK reg car) and then German Resident, with two cars one UK plate(RHD) one German plate(LHD). Now I run French and UK registered vehicles.

The complicated bit is my Tax status, I have a German Pension (Registered as a German Pensioner with Finanzamt Neubrandenburg) taxed in Germany paid in France, and a UK pension taxed in UK paid in UK. Then I pay Taxes d' Habitation and Taxes foncieres in France.

It's all sorted put with the authorities, but the man with the gun in a passport booth is best left untroubled by the complexities. I like to just wave a passport and smile.

So if I'm driving a French car I wave the Carte d'Sejour, If a UK vehicle the UK passport, and in Germany I use my German Drivers License.

If you are french resident you are legally obliged to register your vehicle along with changing your uk driving license

That's what I thought about the vehicle along with not being allowed to drive a UK registered vehicle which you own ... I suspect the insurance will be invalid too!!!

As for the driving licence, there was some agreement regarding them being recognised pre 1/1/21 so he might be okay on that score.

Yes that's why I avoid the complications. :) The Camper is kept in a storage facility in the UK, I only go to Spain in it for the winter (Usually via Brittany Ferries via Santander) it spends the summer months towing a race car round, Brands Hatch, Silverstone, Thruxton, Snetterton, Oulton Park, Donnington, Spa, Nuerburgring etc. So why woud I register it for France? I have multiple driving licenses, I passed my test in Germany.

So I don't confuse them.... Show them a UK passport have UK Camper Taxed and registered in UK.....

It never goes to my french house... No room to park it.

I still have my concerns that what you are doing re the camper is 'legal' and covered by your insurance, do they know you are a French resident and not UK?
