France is filling up!

We're here. Teetering between France and Spain at Font Romeu.

At a brand new aire (Camper carpark). Four vans on last night, five here now.

We crossed over last Sunday afternoon spent the night at Sangatte full to bursting. We are now south of Auxerre and have found all the Aires full by around 6 o'clock with other vans still arriving trying to get in. Not seen another UK van mainly Dutch and Belgium plates. Off to Dijon then down to Beaune. Masks everywhere and as others have mentioned vaccine proof required in all bar's and restaurant's.

Anyone know the rules re face coverings in France currently? Not hearsay please, the actual rules.

There are places in towns that have got notices up to say that you must wear a face mask when walking through the street. Everyone in supermarkets are wearing masks as well.

Thank you. it's a shame we need to wear face coverings out doors but if they're the rules then we'll stick to them.

:mask:......Seen many like this.....not hearsay, I really did....

It seems to be in the busy areas

Masks outside are compulsory in certain designated departments, predominantly tourist areas, signs will make it obvious, however masks are compulsory in any crowded area and every shop, for bars, restaurants etc masks required when entering or leaving they can be removed when seated, if eating or drinking on terrace (outside) no covering required.
As previously mentioned covid documentation is required for entrance to bars, restaurants and various venues.

We have been in France since June and to be honest we have found it quieter than usual although I hear the coastal sites / aires are busy .The Dordogne river run was easy to find a spot so I guess it depends on where your going .
The Dutch as usual are out in force especially mid France.

We were sitting outside a bar this afternoon when two burly bikers arrived. Big guys with lots of tattoos and Harley Davidson on the back of leather jackets. They stood for a moment, then put on masks to walk to the nearest table on the terrace, sat down and then took the masks off again.
Everyone takes it very seriously.

Totally agree, in shops everyone is wearing a mask, none of the crap we had where half the population claimed to be exempt.

Heaving with Dutch and Belgian vans here in Provence
We were in Sault couple of nights ago. Turned up after 6 and the whole of the outside was full.
One French chap thought my French parking needed adapting but we spoke about it and I decided he was wrong.

We went to Beaux village Lussan and it was empty in the car park. Mask signs up for the whole village and were worn.
Isle Sur la sorgues was also signed up for masks inside the circular river (town centre) and nobody took any notice

Give us a clue! Which sites and regions did you visit?

Steve
First stop was Saint Quentin Aire, 5 empty places. Next stop Sezanne , east of Paris. site at about 25% capacity. Next site was Cluny near Macon again well below 25%. Then we travelled south to a site south of Lyon , this site was right on the main motorway to the med and when we arrived it was virtually empty then it filled up with people using it as a night halt on their way to the med (Le Soleil Fruite). We then headed to the Ardeche region and to Sunelia Domaine Les Ranchisses at L'argentiere, again below 25% capacity. Next was Domaine de Massereau at Sommieres where we came across a few more Brits but again empty. Final stop in Argeles sur Mer where we used the popular site Soleil on the beach. Large sections of this site were completely empty and again I would say it was well below 25% capacity. Reception staff commented on the lack of Brits who had been cancelling in large numbers throughout the season. Now in Llafranc Spain on a fairly empty Kims Camping.

If heading down towards Royan, there is a good aire at La Palmyre. Its a really nice town with great walks along the cote savage and a decent lighthouse(y)
