Forget gassing to steal your Rolex, this watch is worth more & has been stolen.

I liked the Bletchley park story behind it and the brand is British so that ticked the patriotic box as well and then Jen gave me a choice, top up my ISA or buy the watch and it seemed rude not to.

I think I have worn it 3 times so getting my moneys worth :D2 don't tell anybody though as I will sell it one day as unworn as the original strap has never been buckled up.

Fair play to you ?

Ibiza Town is class and certainly not cheap, there's parts of the island which are chav central but the Capital is not it

Not sure what you do know it was a Russian state for many years and is a very liberated upcoming country beachwear is much the same as any U.K. or med or wherever beach, bikinis, topless, even nude, men in skimpy shorts etc. In the towns most dress as us westerners do. They are a wonderfully friendly mixed race of people.
As its mainly (87%) a Muslim country I find it hard to believe they would accept such things as public nudity.

. Gov travel advise is not to offend local traditions and customs and while Western dress is accepted I doubt its anything like Ibiza.

Local laws and customs
Most of the population of Azerbaijan is Muslim. Azerbaijan is a largely secular society, and religion is usually considered a private matter. Respect local traditions, customs, laws and religions at all times and be aware of your actions to ensure that they don’t offend other cultures or religious beliefs, especially during the holy month of Ramadan or if you intend to visit religious areas.
It is illegal to proselytise.
In Baku local and foreign women usually dress in western-style clothing. It is now more acceptable for men in Baku to wear shorts in the summer months but outside of Baku it can be frowned upon and attract unwelcome attention.

That's still not what I asked, owning, investing, looking at, fair enough, I buy tractors for the same reason, wearing jewelry is just asking to get robbed , can't see any other reason.

Why would anyone buy jewellery and/or a watch and not wear it? Now that would be really odd and hard to understand.

Wearing the aforementioned is not asking to get robbed - millions of folk wear said items every day without problems. Can you really not understand why people want to own something nice?

I have a Rolex submariner that I wear every day. I've had it for years. It's worth probably twice what I paid for it, not that I care. I like it. It's worth twice what my 15 yr old Volvo is worth but I like that too so I don't give a toss if someone pays millions for a watch. If it's what ticks their box why not?

I gave up on government advice after Iraq. They told me Saddam had WMDs, Gaddafi had to go as he was 'very bad' and they had to save the Syrians from Assad by bombing them and sending in ISIS. Now they tell me the same about Iran and Venezeula.

I've been thinking that I trust the UK government's view on things slightly less than the author of the Nigerian scam email that arrived this morning :).

It does seem however that when visiting Ibiza a simple Tissot or Accurist would be a wise choice :). I'll wait for the Chinese to make a £20 knock off of that F1 watch.. although it does look like it needs continual winding up so I may go for another Casio.

Probably the only Rolex I would consider

Never having any inclination to buy or wear any jewelry, or watches, what is the attraction to having them?
Before anyone goes off saying here he goes again , this is a serious question.

I feel the same way. I am happy to look at stunning pieces of art of all types but have no inclination to own anything that would need extra insurance and could cause sleepless nights should I lose it, break it or be robbed of it.

A phone is a phone but people are willing to many times the price of an Alcatel to get an Apple.

I have an Alcatel - a cheap one.

Engineering masterpiece that watch may be, but the styling of it makes it look like something a yoof would buy for £20 from Argos, to match their trainers.

God I sound old! :D
