For all Yorkshire souls

Born in York, mainly brought up in a West Riding Pit Village........ have lived/worked in Newcastle, Manchester, London, Doncaster, Bristol, Dundee and Shetland. Have found most folk to be friendly and helpful. Even married a Lancashire lass.

Worked/lived in Scotland for 17 years before returning to retire in God’s Own County. Found Scotsmen to be very similar to Yorkshiremen....... the only small difference being Yorkshiremen are not quite so generous. :giggle:

Who's written permission did you get to marry a Lanca.....Lanc....... See, I can't type it! (Say's he married to a 'Dumpling' (Feel free to ask.)

Yorkshire born and bred. When I moved to the Midlands and the locals asked me why I had come, I told them it was to cheer the miserable bugxxxs up. When I left , 20+ years later, they asked me why I was leaving, I told them it was because I had failed to cheer them up. They were/are still mb. Trying my luck with the southerns but not too optimistic
Loved the video clip of the Northerner in London. Just like some of my experiences in Warwickshire!

I've found that the folk in the M5/M6 corridor are lovely.
There again, if I could understand more than two words in a row, it would be even better.

And if your not feeling grand:-

Joffins Coffin.

T'coffin slid off from hearse, but what transpired was even worse.
T'cortege, you see from Dawlish mill Was only'alfway oop the hill.
And since it had but freshly snowed, T'cask when fallen onto road,
Took off, down slope, at sooch a rate. That passers by in fearful state,
Joomped to the side, and in the air, while some stood still, turned stone with fear.
T'coffin sped at greater pace, Past drinkers in the Crown and Mace,
Past Bric an Brac and Hazels teas,
And Joe's shop with "all kinds of cheese"
And then down t'High street, steeper still,
On,on, like rocket, with a will. Then casket came to left hand bend,
And here the matter reached its end.
For on that bend, faced up the slope,
Was chemists shop of Joffin Pope.
Old Joff, eyes wide, let drop his jaw, for t'coffin sped right through his door.
(You should have seen old Joffins face).
As casket bumped, the lid flew wide,
Then waxen occupant inside, Sat oop and asked, Ah chemist Joffin

....... ' Hast out in here to stop me coughing.

John Smiths, Sam Smiths, Tetleys, Theakstons and many many more ales born of Yorkshire water and spirit. As with ladies, there is one for very taste, and each, believes his is the best. But, still, a quick glance across the table to check ;)(y):rolleyes:

I f this is meant to be a pro Yorkshire post - please repost this without reference to that disgusting muck john smiths - a truly awful drink that shouldn't be allowed to be labelled as beer! ?

An oldie but goodie, What's the best thing to come out of Yorkshire? The M62 Westbound!

Of course, you're right. It's so there is a quick route for us to get rid of all the undesirables and those not worthy.

When we were at school, the toilet paper had "and now please wash your hands WRCC" on it. That is West Riding County Council

Cleethorpes is the holiday resort for South Yorkshire including the caravan parks. The state of there cars kept me in work during the summer. It was usually recovery to Cleethorpes on Friday or recovery back to South Yorkshire on a Sunday. If they could get away with it they would get both, one recovery to one destination was the rule. They never wanted to go home on a Friday.
My boss referred to them as being like the Yorkie Bar “Thick and Chunky”.Being a fellow Yorkie I kept out of that conversation.
