Just wondering if anyone else has set a PIN for the Bluetooth on their Fogstar Drift battery.

I contacted Fogstar and they sent these instructions to do it:

1. Open the app and go to the "About" section.
2. Click on the Fogstar Drift logo, which will bring up a pop-up section.
3. Enter your desired password.
4. Click "OK." The app should confirm that the process was successful.
5. Wait for 10 seconds before closing the app

I did that then tested to see if it worked by installing the Fogstar app on my partners phone. Using her phone I was able to connect to the battery and turn charging and discharging on and off without having to enter a PIN!

Has anyone else successfully prevented unwanted Bluetooth access their Fogstar Drift batteries?

I can imagine being on a campsite and someone being a silly sausage by switching discharge off and there being nothing I can do about it!

Thanks

Ok, I managed to figure it out.

I was entering a 4 digit pin in the drift app and it appeared to accept it but clearly it didn’t and gave no indication.

So, I downloaded the JBD app and tried to set a 4 digit pin but it popped up saying a 6 digit pin is required!

I went back to the drift app and successfully set a 6 digit pin.

So, my thoughts are, the drift app should be improved to make it clear a 6 digit pin is required and the instructions provided should also make it clear!

So once I set the pin on a device it doesn't ask for it when using that device only if you connect from a different one?

Edit: Just tested on my tablet and it asked for the PIN number so all good thanks.

I’ve put in a 6 digit PIN via the app and I can still access the BMS from other devices without requiring a PIN.

After putting in the PIN and clicking OK, do you have to wait a while before getting confirmation it was successful?

No, it immediately flashes up "successfully set", which disappears after a second or so.
The button to click on was CONFIRM not OK.
