There was a very noisy plane passing close to my camp this morning so I had a look on flightradar to see what it was (low cloud meant i couldnt spot it).

It will have been the typhoon but when I clicked on the helicopter I got this information. Has someone been remapping the engines on the helicopter?????

That shouldn’t be a problem for a Chopper, I have been up to 6000ft in a RAF Sea King many years ago 🥴
I think he was referring to a tail wind of 600 mph at 4,000 feet being extremely unlikely because the jet stream ( where higher wind speeds can occur) are at between 4 and 12 miles high and even they don’t reach 600 mph as far as I'm aware.

We had to go up to about 11,000ft in the Army Soiux ( Bell 47G 3B1 similar to in the old MASH TV series). It was to ensure the turbocharger could maintain boost at altitude as could be sent to Aden. The only time I wore a parachute, as if we caught fire we would never get down in piece. The pilot said, "If we have to jump I will roll your way and out you go, then I'll roll my way and jump. I wont be there to roll your way again".

A couple of Typhoons nearly blew our chimneys off earlier. Only at a few hundred feet. Never been that low over here before - wonder what was going on 🤷
You have chimneys? Hope you don't burn coal. Even those aircraft just burn paraffin and then turn most of it into noise :)

Probably one of the most impressive displays I've ever seen. Watch out for the phenomenal landing.
I only hope that they issued the passengers with sick bags :giggler:

I would not like to be his copilot, as I would not know when to call out that he was exceeding design or operational limits.
