it’s designed to be driven and still be legal after a light bump, front lights are out the way as are the rear lights halfway up the rear

First Fiat I’ve ever owned.....sitting in the drivers seat I can’t see the front.

I’ve driven and ridden many vehicles, from mopeds to abnormal loads, some were better than others. As long as it does the job in a good way I’m happy.

I just love driving stuff.........my favourite was my Scammell Crusader. :giggle:

However, my love of driving was tested by my Dad’s old Lada.

to be honest they are a box for transpoting goods around all they do is vary the front a bit to catch those that like to have the latest model going back a bit but anglia van doors were identical to escort ones and transits from day one to mk fives the same, possibly even later i lost track at the mk 5

They definately need to design into the front a ledge to stand on so the entire windscreen can be reached to clean, and not the plastic slippery room for one shoe effort there is at the moment.

So much talk on this thread about the looks of a van, obviously must be from posters who do not contemplate the chassis, engine and running gear in an 'A' Class.

I was dreamy REME for 25 years.
Fixed everything from Centurions in the 60’s to 500watt genies. Loved it all.
Glad I did the time and now enjoying the pension.

Re EU requirements.

Our 2019 Boxer has TPS which is a PITA.

Preset in the factory at around 80psi it constantly throws warnings when tyres are run at Continental’s recommended pressures v axle weights. It is not adjustable!

Running at our recommended pressures we have the TPMS warning light illuminated on the panel at all times. Such lights are an MOT failure.

We carry our axle weight readout and Continental’s recommended tyre pressure chart with us in case we are pulled in by the DVSA for a check. I don’t know if they would accept it though.

I do hope they have updated the dashboard as it is dreadful, look at the new mercs coming through now, and then look at the fiat, no comparison

You’re absolutely right, but look at the difference in cost between the two makes.

How difficult is it to use off the self car technology (as in car dashboard layouts) and put them into van? I can only think most vans are workhorses, and need to be more robust than a cars? Observation / question rather than opinion. (y)

I really like that second picture. :(. I wouldn't say no if I won one.

All I can see in the new sprinter dashboard is Jonny 5

Even the Fiat Panda has better dials than the Ducato. Recent Fiat cars also get a digital speedo readout. How hard can it be to give us a decent dash in the next generation Ducato.

I hope it doesn't copy the Sprinter. I still prefer to have rotary controls to twiddle for the heater and aircon. Also those Merc turbine style air vents - ugh. Very boy racer.

I would like a 9" screen with Android Auto / Carplay as standard instead of a cheap radio.

The tyre pressure warning system needs to be capable of re-calibration by the driver without having to plug into a port. Dealer-only is a big drawback.

Our Westfalia has the same system and driving it at recommended pressures is like driving an 'upholstered roler skate'.
Purchased a copy of Multiecuscan http://www.multiecuscan.net/ (runs on an old Windows laptop). This can re program the sensors to activate at lower pressures.

Circa 50 posts. Ok, how many of you have posters of vans on your bedroom walls😂?
The real question is - How many of you turn round to look back at your 'van after you have parked and walked away?

It would be so nice to read the speedo easily, we have a 66 plate sonic, one of the dash vents has broken, the plastics used are very cheap feeling, and it all feels thrown together. It would also be good to move the steering wheel in all directions rather than just in and out

Germany......early 80’s......firing its Land Anchor.

Is your Westfalen on a 2019 Boxer?

Both our local Peugeot Professional Dealer and our very helpful local back street garage have tried, and failed, to reset it. They both said that the programme is locked.

Just to check I asked a second Peugeot Professional workshop and they also said it is not possible to change the setting.

There is a comparison. And it can be done by piles of pennies. You spend more on a merc and get a nicer dash. I'd rather have an ugly dash and a big pile of pennies left to go on holiday.

And the Fiat is wider and squarer along its height in the back than a merc, meaning it's both easier to build a conversion in and better for diagonal beds at the back.
