Fiat Warranty

The number is 00800 34281111 which is an international freephone number. This takes you to Fiat Camper Services in Italy. You get a keypad selection for language which will take you to a proficient English speaker. When I phoned a few days ago it was answered very quickly and the person I spoke to was very helpful and had no difficulty dealing with my enquiry.

It was the second time I have called them and it was quick and easy both times, I wish some of our call centres were half as good.
I agree with you my experience of using the number is exactly as you describe apparently some of the call centre staff can see the Dolomite’s in the distant which sounds a much nicer office than if they were in Milton Keynes overlooking the snow dome.

Yip, they are extremely pleasant and helpful.
They even told local FIAT Pro to "get the finger out" and get the problem sorted.:xThumb:

Is the 5 year extended warranty transferable should the vehicle be sold on?

Oh NO it isn't

We purchased 2018 Autotrail Tracker and thanks to Sargent (couldn't rectify the charger system not fully charging) and the dealer (put more faults on it than they cured and their standard of workmanship was appalling) we purchased from being worst than the chocolate teapot we have, we sold it within 13 months of having it

When purchased we took out the extra 3 year Fiat (vehicle base) warranty at a cost of something like £880 so that we had the 2 years as supplied by Fiat and then 3 years to cover any issues with the base vehicle. When we sold it we approached our local Fiat Professional dealer who originally did the warranty extension and said "look as this 3 year warranty hasn't even started and our "new" motorhome is under two years can we swop the extended warranty to the other vehicle please?" They said it seems reasonable and agreed we should be able to, so it was a great shock when Fiat replied that NO it can't be done

So somebody will have a nice surprise if it has major base vehicle defects ;)

I wasn't meaning portable to another vehicle I meant for the benefit of the new purchaser who buys the vehicle that has the gurantee.

Wish we had known about an extended warranty. A couple of months outside of our 2 year warranty and we have major engine problems. This is going to cost at the moment in the region of £6000, if they don’t find anything else 😩
Contact them anyway. As others have said they will usually give a decent goodwill gesture as a couple of months outside a 2year gtee doesn't stand up under eu rules.

Oh yes it does. It is transferrable to the purchaser. why would you even think a warranty on one specific vehicle could be removed & used on another?

Hi Gus

Because the "warranty" was an extra and hadn't even started

I suppose you could ask for your money back on the original purchase as it hasn’t started yet………but I wouldn’t be holding my breath……then use the refund money to purchase a new agreement on your new van? 🤷‍♂️

The warranty is a complex thing the one you purchased was for a specific vehicle it is then assigned to the vehicle you purchased it for. It’s also a legal document and contract between you the specific vehicle and the manufacturer.

Thanks for suggestions Sapper we tried to go down that line as well but got nowhere

I do think they could be more flexible as 15 days to decide doesn't really give you a fair crack of the whip - we bought it in good faith and thought it would be our "for-ever" van

Extended warranties should be offered more towards the final weeks of the standard warranty - but maybe they don't have that much faith in their vehicles

We live and learn and probably wouldn't bother with it again - not that we'll be in the position or want to buy new again ::bigsmile:

Thanks Coolcats

They could have been a little more flexible as it was "an extra" which didn't benefit us in any way and wasn't even in use - all the other "extra's" could/were removed when no part-x value was offered!!

Agree with you it is somewhat disappointing when you find something like this.
