For the 3rd time in less than 12 months the air bag warning light is back on the dash. The last time was 6 weeks ago when it cost me £88 with crashdata to have the module reprogrammed.I did ask the question then why has it gone again. One of the replies it could be high voltage when starting the engine. So every time since the last replacement i have turned the ignition to on and waited until the various lights went off before cranking the engine. This morning i only tuned the ignition on to check mu LPG levels and almost immediately the air bag light came on.
I am at a loss what to do next.I cant keep paying £88 God knows how many times.Has anyone please got/had this problem and found out a reliable fix?Any help greatly appreciated.

May be expensive going to a Fiat dealer but you get a 2 year warranty & the latest unit, wish I hadn't bothered with Crash Data IMO a load of crooks.

£219 for the ECU & £155 to configure it + VAT so £449 he did give me £30 off the labour full price was £479.
At that cost IF Fiat insurance pay out it makes the original warranty premium look more reasonable

Then to cap it all my ECU turned up at Crash Data, I was hoping it was lost so I could claim for it.
They said they had fixed it and wanted payment, I told them no way. They said it failed on low volts 12.6v I know the battery had been up at 13v it's a load of bo**cks this low & high voltage failures.
I would never deal with Crash Data again and definitely wouldn't recommend them at all. After they repaired the ECU the first time it failed in under 2 weeks and they wanted to charge again.

May be more expensive but if you get it done by a Fiat dealer but you get a 2 year warranty.
How Much :oops: ? I feel for you brother.

So it's always seems---- either ---- the voltage is too low OR it's too high :eek:
Have they categorically stated what voltage reading you must achieve before attempting to start the engine?

mine was recorded as an earth fault at 12.6v in mutliecuscan and when repaired the report said earth fault repaired and there had been a second fault of low voltage.
i am beginning to think that they dont know what the fault is and they just make a statement that they hope justifies to us the cost of resetting the ecu.
yes there was an internal earth fault on my ecu but there is no way 12.6v at the time of failure can be considered a low voltage.

I think it's a load of bo**cks whatever you think of Fiat I can't see a the largest vehicle manufacture in Europe specing a product that won't work in the normal range of voltages you get on a vehicle.
Crash Data reporting low voltage failure at 12.6v is just stupid, as when the starter is turning the voltage is down to 10v or less.

Obviously problem with the unit that Fiat have been very slow at sorting an I agree it is a joke and they should be taken to task over it.

Some have mentioned it should be a safety recall, I think they get away with that as airbags aren't compulsory on vans only on cars.

Most are registered as 'motor caravans' not vans. 2016 seems a particularly bad year. Will it help if I get a personalised plate instead?

BLOODY GONE OUT!!!??

How can that happen?
After half an hour I have just tried it again and there it was ----- gone

I need help people - that's just ridiculous

We had the same when ours went.

Started motorhome at Melrose after a Low Battery warning on control panel and light came on. Driving from there to Strathclyde with light on and odometer flashing but went off \ stopped flashing after about 30 minutes.

Got to destination and stop \ started motorhome a few times and all seem OK.

Went back to storage a couple of weeks later, battery all OK, and went to start to take for MoT and it was bl**dy back! Fortunately, I always get it MoTd 3 - 4 weeks in advance just in case something goes awry so sent the ECU off to Crashdata, refitted and MoTd OK.

When was this?
I have never had a low battery light

An extra earth wire has been mensioned but I'm sure that the module is still basically crap

Just contacted 2 service establishments and they say only 1 year warranty on new airbag ecu. Hope you got it in writing.

Edit.
Apparently if it's a Fiat base vehicle then it's 2 yr warranty with unlimited mileage.
Mine is a Peugeot base vehicle and that is only 1 yr warranty, even though my airbag ecu is made by Fiat. Work that one out!
Adam Mornay (that Lenny HB used) only work on Fiat base motorhomes after calling them.

Marquis Leisure, who originally supplied my Elddis Majestic, won't work on the airbag ecu, they told me to go direct to Peugeot!

When I had a Pug, my local Pug dealer wouldn't do it, " not commercials, Guv". Sent me to a commercial Peugeot dealer, Hamble Motors near Southampton.

Yes, I went to a commercial Peugeot dealer in Poole. Still only 1 year warranty.

Just drove to Plymouth for Roscoff boat. Airbag light has come on during journey!
That's strange, I would check the connections under the seats at the first opportunity. Have you recently put anything under your seats to take with you ?
