For the 3rd time in less than 12 months the air bag warning light is back on the dash. The last time was 6 weeks ago when it cost me £88 with crashdata to have the module reprogrammed.I did ask the question then why has it gone again. One of the replies it could be high voltage when starting the engine. So every time since the last replacement i have turned the ignition to on and waited until the various lights went off before cranking the engine. This morning i only tuned the ignition on to check mu LPG levels and almost immediately the air bag light came on.
I am at a loss what to do next.I cant keep paying £88 God knows how many times.Has anyone please got/had this problem and found out a reliable fix?Any help greatly appreciated.

A van or a motorhome? Subtle difference and are you sure about not being required in commercials?

As far as I can see not required in Europe but are in the USA. But if they are fitted they have to work.

While researching came across some interesting results.
We all think Fiat Ducato, Citroen Relay and Peugeot Boxer are the same van the Euro NCAP test results are interesting.

Fiat Ducato, Platinum, 88% Safety Assist Performance.
Citroen Relay, Bronze, 32% Safety Assist Performance.
Peugeot Boxer, Bronze, 33% Safety Assist Performance.

Any idea what the safety assist items are

Pay up and get it fitted at a Fiat dealer.

Mine is currently in at North East Truck and Van for a service and Air Bag ECU. They mistakenly sent an estimate including the air bag ECU replacement which IS covered by the extended Fiat warranty.

Price difference £344 plus vat. That's paid for more than 50% of the warranty cost!

I will post more about NETV once I have my van returned 🤔🤬🤬💩.
Absolute nightmare to deal with bunch of knackers, ended up using Sherwood's in Washington they have been first class with warranty work and servicing.

Is it possible to just fit a a new airbag module and do a proxi alignment with Multiecuscan?

yes been there done that; but it took 4 attempts to get it through. i had to reset the fault codes before, proxi alignment, then do the proxi without switching off or shutting anything down. then it went through.

PS; you can run the multiecuscan in test mode to simulate a proxi read the warnings that pop up carefully.

Did you try doing a proxi with no module fitted. is this advisable if codes wont clear
ps thanks for both

no i did not. i was weary of lossing any data that might be needed for the airbag ecu. but that may be just paranoia; I fitted the new ecu and my codes would not clear at first so i gave up and went to a local specialist who could nor align the new ecu either.

when i got home i decided not to give up. did a full scan, cleared all faults without going back and checking they had cleared and ran the proxi immediately and it went through.

i had ecu failure and flashing odometer. sorted!

Just drove to Plymouth for Roscoff boat. Airbag light has come on during journey!
Finally! Vospers (Exeter) have just rung up to say the Air Bag Module is in stock so, Van booked in 4th January. Expect heavy bill however, Lenny HB tells us I get a two year warranty....:xsmile:

2 year warranty is only on a Fiat base vehicle, not sure what yours is?
Mine is a Peugeot base and only got a 1 year warranty.

Ours has gone again😐.
Think we'll have to bite the bullet and get a new one fitted.
At least, the MOT's not due in a week's time, like it was the last time it went.

Where did you have yours repaired last time?

Been happening on my Mercedes sprinter for couple of years, so bought a computer to re-set it.

Kept arguing with Mercedes who kept saying I need a new airbag at ridiculous costs. I kept arguing that it shouldn’t need replacing.

Now have a recall letter to say it will be replaced free of charge.

Having recently passed the MOT, the important question for me is whether it is actually safe to drive. Is it just a light coming on, or does it mean the airbag wouldn't deploy in an accident?
