Hi Kim H

The dealership over the road is Concorde and Hymer, to see the N+B van you need to be in the factory showroom straight through the main front doors.

Martin

Is this an N + B meet or a Fun meet. It'll be our first at either!
It could be either really as most that I know are in/on both, there may be some that only do the N+B facebook page though.

Either way you will be OK(y)

Martin

In Germany they have cities which restrict access based on emissions like the London Zone. In France it is similar and the number and areas are growing. You buy stickers from each countries authorities based on your V5 information which determines your emissions standard. These are them viewable by the authorities by visual inspection or cameras. If you breach an area you are not allowed in you get fined.

My 2013 N + B is entitled to a Green sticker for Germany and a Yellow 2 sticker for France which is the same as my 2010 AutoTrail had.

The German system works at all times for certain city areas and for the type of sticker on the signs at entry.

France CritAir system works differently. All vehicles have to display a sticker but vehicles are only banned from certain city areas when there is bad pollution and the local authority has promulgated in advance which categories of sticker-carrying vehicles are prohibited. If no ban all vehicles can enter. I have not yet heard of any bans in France, but maybe I am deaf?

Well we are packed and nearly ready to go tomorrow!

The fridge PCB block arrived on Friday so that has been fitted and we now have a fridge, freezer and oven working again although the mains element on the fridge is still not working so obviously kaput!

Just one fuse to replace under the bonnet for the cigar lighter socket that I blew with the air compressor and a couple of Tyrepal batteries and some booze and we are ready.

Polch - here we come!

I think there's every likelihood that Nikki and i will be coming too..
Would like a word about a few things
better take a fortnight off work mate ,if your going to talk about a few problems on your van lol

ell my van has been fixed up, I have cleaned and polished it ready for the occassion. really looking forward to this although I have a few days of work to do first.

Did I say anything about the van inspection on Sunday morning, oh sorry.

Anyways 10:30.

At the Tunnel and there is a delay in excess of 2 hours. Smoke seen coming from a train heading to UK caused an emergency stop. Tunnel terminal car park rammed! Lots of Polish and Romanian vans towing UK cars back out to Europe!

Well you still have at least 3 days head start on us, see you there, safe travels.

Yes Ive never worked out why they are doing that, are used car prices high enough in Eastern Europe to make it viable to have RHD? I wonder if @nicholsong can shed any light?

Sorry cannot shed any light on why. We see lots of cars on trailers on the W--E M/way coming through Germany but they are usually crashed ones which they will repair here, but never looked at whether they were RHD.

I know next to nothing about secondhand car prices in UK or Poland, except that we bought a Honda HR-V 3 years ago as an import from Germany, in excellent condition/one lady owner, 13 years old, 60,000km for £2K, and our neighbour who has a Honda garage, and who found it for us, reckons it will do another 10 years with our low usage.

I wonder if its cars requiring major repairs - engine/transmission etc and its cheaper to trailer them to Eastern Europe to get them repaired and then trailer them back behind anyone of the numerous minibuses.

There certainly do seem to be a lot of them and some of them are going pretty fast, one with a large trailer albeit it empty passed me on the M20 last trip and I was doing 65, he was doing at least 75!!

Finally arrived at 2am UK time, only 5 hours late! Woken up in Cite d’Eutope surrounded by French workers cars. Slow start this morning.

Gosh, what time was your crossing?

8:20pm but due to the train which stopped in the tunnel due to smoke everyone was late by an increasing amount.

We were Scheduled to be crossing/train Y and one of Marshall’s suggested going through when X was called which we did. We got a few raised eyebrows at the various passport/check in desks but got the front of the queue for train Y. Train X did not have enough high siders so we got to go on train X. Someone for train A tried it on and got pulled to one side and made to wait.

Did a bit of shopping at Cite d’Europe, changed a fuse, fuelled up at €1.45 (wince) and we are now at the marina site at Brugge. Had a walk around and now enjoying. G & T before dinner.

Moved on today from Bruges to Aachen and walked down into town this afternoon. Had dinner in Macaroni’s Italian restaurant and walked back. Weather is very mild at 16C.

Heading for Polch tomorrow via the Eiffel national park.

Pic is Aachen town hall.

We are still behind you @Abacist actually we are all at sea at the moment and heading for Aldenhoven just past Aachen tomorrow and then onto Polch Thursday or Friday.

Martin

Edit is Aachen worth a look?

Aachen is very nice with famous cathedral and town hall and history of crowning German kings. The stellplatz/ campsite is €19 but 2.3 miles down into town which has loads and loads of shops so as long as you are game for a walk I enjoyed it. Margaret said she won't be doing Aachen again more due to the walk!

Travelling through the Eiffel national park on our way to Polch.

Arrived at Polch and parked in a lay-by on Clou Strasse next to one like ours. Ours is behind without jacks. Everything is close at hand like a bakery, supermarket, petrol station (diesel €1.499) as well as the factory and dealership. You can certainly splash the cash on a Concorde - a smidge under €430,000!

Are they using the field yet? You fuel price goes up and down there hourly, we are at Duren tonight and then heading to Polch tomorrow so should be there for lunch.

The ferry was late docking this morning head winds and against the tide and then a gas tanker had to dock before us and the dontblet any other vessels in the harbour till the gas tanker is safely berthed apparently, we were two hours late.

Martin

Nobody really in the field yet. We thought we'd stay outside on the road for the time being as there is rain forecast, in fact it's just started.

There are a group of old and self converted vans up near the N + B stellplatz who look as if they've come for the beer and everyone else mostly on the surrounding roads.

I imagine the marquee is not up yet.

You won’t have the quietest of nights there as the wagons are usually up and down all night, the tent will be at the back of the factory but you might not see it from where you are, see you tomorrow anyway.

Martin

Ps I hope that is you with the jacks as I know that road is far from level.
